I was wondering what you brought with you?
Do you just purchase soap and dryer sheets there or bring it from home.
I was thinking of just putting some powdered detergent in a ziploc baggie in my checked luggage but didn't know if that was allowed.
Any ideas?
Thnaks:)

If these is any way that you can bring it with you, I would. The laundry soap is at least $1.00 per load and dryer sheets are not usually available. The last time I washed at WDW it was $2.00 for the washer and the same for the dryer. It may have gone up since then??

I usually bring just carry-ons & fill the small containers (3oz) with liquid det & fabric softner. I also pack dryer sheets in between my clothes. This past time I knew I was going to be close on space so when I ordered water from Gargen Grocer, I ordered 3 small detergents!! I am pretty sure the cost is $1 per box of detergent/softner etc. The loads are $2 each. If you are checking luggage-you can pack it in there-I'd put it in a large ziploc-just in case!

i bought travel size tide. each one was one load. and i didnt bother with dryer sheets.
it was actually much easier than i had anticipated. the laundry was next to the pool so i swam while i did laundry.

Just remember to bring quarters along or get them from the front desk before going to the laundry room. After 7 days with five people in the Aug. heat, I had four loads of laundry to do. Took them in the rolling luggage to the laundry room by the quiet pool, loaded them up, used the small packets of liquid Tide I purchased at Target for $1, and found out the machine to change dollar bills was empty. Notified the front desk and they told me to stop by the front desk for change. Luckily my 12 yo was with me and she ran to the front desk for change. $2 for a load to wash and $2 for a load to dry. One hour total by the pool relaxing!!!

We stayed at ASMo last year and I had at least 3-4 loads to do (big ones! since we have small chidren and a baby at the time that needed a change of clothes a couple of times a day because he was a spitter) and I washed it no problem but just a warning, the dryers are not good at all.....I spent a fortune seperating my loads out, in half, so I could get them dry....it took forever! So, try and just do a small load so it doesn't take you hours......:goodvibes

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I really would rather go lighter on the packing and do laundry once or twice than bring my usual ridiculously overpacked suitcase:rolleyes1

I always bring quarters with me from home
I but the power soap with the fabric softner in it
and premeasure it in ziploc bags
then I am ready to go
I also put in a garbage bag or 2 to carry from the room to
the laundry
or use a rolling suit case:thumbsup2

I use Dropps and dryer sheets. Dropps are like little gel pacs(think auto dish washer pods). I just pack them in a small tupperware or cottonelle container. I like them better then powder detergent(personal preference).

I bought soap in small boxes at my local laundromat for only .50 each. I put them in a large ziploc bag for travel along with some fabric softener sheets that I had already. Have fun.

We always stay in DVC resorts so don't have to pay for laundry. We also get a few samples of detergent.
But I always order groceries from Garden Grocer and just have them deliver my laundry detergent as well. It's heavy and I don't want to sacrifice packing space.
The price difference between buying food and supplies at the resort store compared to the grocery store more than pays for the delivery fee.

I have a box of the Wisk Tablets from a few years back that I bought to take when I travel, unfortunately they are no longer available as they are perfect for traveling.
Walmart has the travel size Tide in the Travel Sized item section. Make sure it is in your checked luggage.

I brought a laundry kit in a zip lock bag. I bought a large box of powdered Tide before we left. I normally use liquid but I hate the thought of spending a $ a load. As it turns out, I liked the Tide powder. Anyway, I got a disposible plastic container and put three loads worth of detergent in it, A sandwich size baggie w/ $12 worth of quarters and another sandwich bag w/ dryer sheets. It was all ready when it came to my laundry day. We also flew and I had no problems getting through with my checked baggage. It costs $2 per load for each the washer and dryer. As a family of 5 we had 3 loads worth after 4 days.

i bought a couple of 3 oz nalgene bottles at the container store, filled them with Tide liquid (only planning to do 2 loads, if any), put a few dryer sheets in a ziploc, and have $10 quarters in a mini M&M tube - i'm good to go!

I bring powdered laundry detergent and put it in my checked bag. I measure out one usage per ziploc bag and then put those baggies into a plastic containter (just incase the baggies tear, I don't want laundry powder everywhere!). This works really well for me. We own DVC, so thankfully we don't have to pay for laundry and I end up doing 2-3 loads while we are there. It's just my husband and I, so it's not a ton of laundry, but I love that it drastically cuts down on what we have to pack.

I recently bought one load packs of Tide at Target. I just bring a couple of dryer sheets in a ziploc bag.

I hate the idea of doing laundry while on vacation but coming home with 3 suitcases of dirty laundry would be worse!!!

I've seen the small travel size packets at WalMart and Target. I would just get those and put some dryer sheets in a ziploc bag.

We drive, so I don't have the packing issues. I picked up a couple of mesh laundry bags at the dollar store, and I use those for hauling laundry to and fro. I also pack individual scoops of powdered detergent into ziploc bags so that it's already measured out for me!

I have always bought the one load travel size tide and/or all at target/walmart. The tide one is the best deal bc it is two loads of powder for $.99 and then i ziplock dryer sheets. I also always bring a tide pen or shout wipes something. My 2 year old still has reflux so I am always doing laundry on vacation. Especially now with the cost of luggage we will be doing laundry on our trip. My kids will nap and mommy will do her mommy duties. :laundy: I also already bring quarters with me and put them in my purse with my roll of pennies for the pressed pennies!

I would like to add one more item - the color catcher sheets by Shout. I reuse them foprabout 3-5 washes. it is a life saver when there is a small wash of all colors. The sheet absorbs the color not your clothes, no more pink/blue underwear!
