From the Popwarner message board. They will be at the WWOS Dec 4-9, 2005. The dates weren't given but someone said that it is always the first week in December. Since they are going to be accomidating a larger crowd onsite next year (50% more rooms being booked for them), I think I will either move my dates back a week to Dec 10-20.

I sent an e-mail to popwarner and to disney to see if they have the exact dates set for 2005. The person who posted on the message board didn't sound like they had official information on the dates, it was just a guess. In 2002, the dates were Dec 8 to 14, so that was the second week. 2003 was Dec 7 to 13. 2004 was Dec 5 to 11. I'll post if I get an answer.

its not the players that are not the worst (i.e. rude, pushy, acting like they are real professional athletes) but its the cheerleaders and the coaches. You are right, moving back a week would probably be a good idea.

Uh oh! I've already booked a package for december 3-11, 2005. What exactly are Pop warner nationals? I have to close my business for my family to go...if we don't go then we might not be able to go until 2006....how bad is it?

Here's the reply I got from Pop Warner:

>>>>As of now, it would be the 4-10...but this might change if we decide to
push it back a week...

Thanks,
Joel

So be flexible with your plans. It seems to me if Disney is going to block a large amount of rooms, they have to set a date soon.

Where are you staying? It mainly affects the value and moderate resorts.

I don't care about which dates I do Dec 1-11 or Dec 10-20, but I would like to know which Moderates they are staying at. Atleast that way there might be a chance to still stay at a moderate and not be wall to wall kids.

I think your best bet would be Coronado Springs. I haven't heard of any of them staying there. They have their own convention schedule.

Maybe I'll push my dates back a week too- I have not heard good things about the week they are there. We were going November 30 thru December 9th.

We had planned on Dec 3-10 and now I think I'm going to do Nov 26 -Dec 4. However I'm concerned about MVMCP. I was planning on going 2 nights. Does anyone know if this is still doable? Also this puts us driving the day after Thanksgiving....UGH!!!

but I have heard that more are starting to stay at some of the Moderates. You can probably tolerate them at the parks (pushing, yelling, doing cheers, breaking in line, no supervision, etc.) but staying at the same resort as a bunch is horrible! Up to all hours doing cheers, yelling outside, taking over the food courts, pools, common areas, etc.). If you can, this may be the time to stay at a deluxe!

I would not cancel a trip if this is the best time for you but be prepared. One trip during that time we only had minor problems but we did stay at the AKL where none of them stayed.

I'm staying at the CR. It is a slow time for my business and I wanted to go to MVMCP. Are the parks really crowded?

Never again, never again, never again, never again, never again,...

I wouldn't change your plans. The parks were not that crowded. For MVMCP, head to the back of the park right at 7:00, everything is walkon.

Well I will miss this next year which makes me both happy and sad. Sad because I will miss all the wonderful Christmas themeing but happy because we are going in October (must take advantage of our AP's).

If anything Pop Warner has turned me off to values but then again that is good news for Disney to hear.

As much as we enjoyed early Dec '04 at WDW, we'll take a pass for future early Dec dates. Between the first-Saturday in Dec at MK going completely to the Christmas Parade filming (Main St completely shut down) & the PopWarner-footballers/cheerleaders, the first two weeks at WDW have become a disaster for families. Good news in another thread: Cheerleaders/dancers have moved all the way to end of Feb/early March. Hope this sticks. First Monday after New Year's up to Friday before President's Weekend is a lovely time to be at WDW!

Unless you stay deluxe or probably CSR, you have good chances of sharing your resort with Pop Warner. I found out via these boards a few months ago that Pop Warner would only be at the All Stars and overflow would be at POR. I stayed at Pop Century since I was assured that the resort was not equipped to handle large groups. Well, that turned out to be false. There were plenty of Pop Warner kids there. Also, on other posts, people have reported Pop Warner kids staying at all the moderates except CSR. I don't know if I'll be back in December if its during Pop Warner time. I saw many groups of them throughout the parks and at MVMCP. Some were well behaved, many were not. It's only going to get worse if Pop Warner keeps increasing it's teams and squads.

That's the magic of Disney. You wallet will be magically thinner by about an additional $200 per night if you want to avoid Pop Warner crowds.
