For those of you who think last minute trips can't work

We just decided VERY last minute to do a brief trip for DS's birthday, also as a celebration of DW finishing up her scheduled chemo treatments in a few weeks.

So we didn't even call MS to make ressies until 5 weeks out. Sure, there weren't any studios available (except at OKW), but it wasn't that hard to get a 1BR. And as a special treat for our DS, who has never seen Stormalong Bay, we wanted to get ressies at Beach Club.

So not even asking until 5 weeks out, we just heard today that the waitlist came through and we got in to BCV for this trip! We're still on waitlist for a studio, but at least he'll be able to play in the water to his heart's content. This last year has been very rough on him, hopefully this will be a good start for us all to move forward from here.

I have had prety good luck with last minute reservaitons on several occasions, as well as the waitlist.

Usually last minute stuff is available at OKW, which isn't a problem for us, because we like it there.

IMHO, if I could get any last minute reservation in any WDW resort, I'd be happy!

Congratulations! We booked our first DVC stay this past February on 2 weeks notice. OKW was the only place that had availability for a studio, and it was wonderful! Wish I could go on the spur of the moment all the time!

We've had good luck with short notice trips, as well, although once we had to move from resort to resort. The wait list has always come through for us.

Congratulations! I just had a stroke of luck myself. I decided to see if there was any availibility for a studio at BCV on June 5, 2004 so we could have a day at SAB before we headed for home. Yep! It was available!

I really cannot book or plan a trip 11 or even 7 months out and guess what I have never had a problem with getting the room or resort that I wanted. Heck just the other day I booked a week in a 2 bedroom and VWL and another week at a 2 bedroom at SSR for September, so it goes to tell you that not all DVC members are not compulsive planners like you see on this site.

I don't think compulsive planning has anything to do with it. If you're willing to stay where ever there's availability, you can almost always go at the last minute.

Originally I booked OKW (moving room type for the last night) - I requested 2 studios at BCV or BWV!

I called Monday morning!

I was disappointed that OKW was our only option - I really wanted BWV so I callrf back on Monday afternoon "just to check" And guess what We were able to get the 3-4-5th at BWV and wait listed for the 2nd and the 6th for again 2 studios!

I called this afternoon and guess what! we got a studio on the 6th at BWV - now waitlisted for

2 studios on the 2nd and 1 on the 6th at BWV or BCV!

This was our first trip last minute! I am a little nervous we won't get exactly what we want but if I can get the last nights studio I will be tickled
