For those of you who have traveled in October, would you go again?

I am wanting to go next year, 2009, for my b-day and MTOTP (we've never been for either) and I was just wondering what you thought of your experiences.

A lot of people have reported the crowds were thick, and I know that a lot of things are happening in Oct. I am afraid that if it is too busy DH will have a fit.

We were thinking of going into the parks Oct 6 - 10. I am hoping that we would miss the majority of UEA (since someone else said it was Oct 1-2) and we would miss gay days (Oct 2-4) as well. The Friday and Saturday (last two days of our trip) would most likely be the busiest time because it would be the start of Columbus Day weekend.

What do you guys think? Would you go this time of year after experiencing it?

I would definitely go again! I am going this coming Wednesday! I have gone at New Year's and over Veteran's Day as well as in February, May and in the summer. I have probably gone at all times of the year and I LOVE October! The weather is fabulous. We always have a plan for busy times of the year and we really never have problem covering both parks with very little hastle. We know what rides to hit when, how to utilize the fast pass thing and are not intimidated at all by popular and crowded times to visit. October really is a comfortable time to visit weather wise.

I would go for the evening to see Mickey Trick or Treat with my Son when he is a bit older, or if I won a trip but NO other then that NO WAY IN A MILLION YEARS!!! You couldnt pay me enough to book a trip for that time of year. I would wait until November early December. Its waaaay tooooo busy for my liking in October (Starting the first weekend)

Anyone know when the CHOC walk is for 2009? I know that it is the 19th of this year, but I don't know if they have scheduled it for next year. I think that would be the other major thing to avoid.

We were there at the end of October a couple of years ago, I think it was around the 20-25th or so. It was a lovely time to be there, the weather was great, it was fun to see all the Halloween stuff. BUT, I thought it was crowded. If I wanted a trip in the fall, I would probably try mid to late September next time.

we are DEFINITELY going again next october:goodvibes the MTOT was soooo much fun, and DL was decorated for fall and halloween....it was heaven for me:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

but just try and go during the week if you can...the weekends were insanely crowded...but the weekdays for us were empty!!

Well if we go when planned, we would be in the parks Tues - Sat (Oct 6 -10). I chose those dates as opposed to Mon - Fri since we will be going to MTOTP on Friday, and hitting the rest of the evening entertainment (fireworks and Fantasmic) on Sat since they won't be running during the week.

I would definately go again. If I had the flexibliity though I would certainly research events and school breaks, etc, to try to guess when it would be the least busy. It wasn't that bad though! Your still in DL, it's great!

We would go again too. The Halloween decorations are wonderful!

You just need to plan and expect crowds on a weekend. If you can go on a weekday and it should be amazingly-less crowded.

Yea... I just came back and crowds were light most of the time we were there... Oct 11-16... Over Columbus Day weekend the crowds were not too bad and they only got better durring the week.. I got out of there before the UEA Weekend crowds. Our last day was the first day of UEA and it was not too bad... maybe plenty of people were still travelling there! :thumbsup2

I went Oct. 6-10 this year and would not go again. I spoke to a CM who said in response to my question when he thought the parks would have less crowds, "Any other time of the year than October thru early January" Guidebooks even recommend the first two weeks of October but it was so busy when we were there it is not something I would do again. We'll stick to weekdays in late January, Feb.

I think we would skip Oct. and go back to our other favorite time- first week of March. This past week was pretty nice on Tues and Wed. Thurs got busier, Friday was absolutely insane and not fun. Was a waste of a day for us.

We have gone 5 times this year so far at various times. Three of our visit were in the summer and my wife and I agree that the Oct weekend crowds were very similar to summer weekend crowds. I personally don't think it was that big of a deal; it didn't distract us from having a great time.

I think you'll be fine. The crowds on Saturday will be heavy but it should be fine on the weekdays. I understand when people complain about the weekend crowds but people who complain about some of the weekday crowds I don't get. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't understand what they are expecting. It's never going to be like your local community park when it's just you and three other kids playing on the swing set. When we were there on a Friday afternoon in Oct Space Mtn was a 25 min wait. To me, that's not what I call crowded by any means.
