Sorry this is a late review (from aug 1, 2004).

We finally got our Cindy's breakfast dream myself and my sister. (yes we are childless, but love kids & disney). ;) SAVE your money and go back to sleep! Don't bother setting your alarm to make that ressie. Utter waste of time. I didn't expect much with the food and I was right. The "server" and I use that term very loosely (male, very slow, bored, I'm guessing hates his job?). Wish I could remember his name. Hmmmm. Came up and starts off with coffee, juice, regular break or healthy, not hi, welcome, or even eye contact.... This is NOT 4 star castle treatment. And not just us, everyone around us families included. When we said, don't drink coffee, or juice and will pay for a coke, he almost died, that's not included!, I said I realize that I said "i would pay for it" that's what I wanted. please. I think the problem was an extra stop to our table that wasn't scheduled. He only started "showing up" after we were done eating and still hadn't seen 1 character enter our section, so we were seating and waiting for them. (think we thought, better do something now, to leave a better impression for the tip). :earseek: Trust me it didn't work, and I usually tip big.

Characters: They do sections, and castle is set up in 3 sections. They also seat the sections togther so your all seen at same time. While we ate they did the room to the right twice? Didn't understand that they where just over there. (same characters) Then did the Left side after their break. Now if your seated by the serving doors where they go in and out they always stopped and visited with those tables coming and going. :sunny: Looked like the place to sit if possible. We however, were in the sunny window seat (sweating, and tanning) and waiting. Finally they came into our section and saw only 1/2 of the princesses cause as they were making there way around, our waiter NOW decides to come and take care of the bill? and the princess etc... don't interfere with them and just go around you. I could of killed our waiter. He saw what happened and said sometimes if they remember, and have time they might try to come back. (didn't happen). For the most part the characters were good, but not any more special than seeing them in the park, or at some other venue. or at the hub of magic kingdom. You get about the same amount of time with them. Wendy was the friendliness and talked quite a while BUT her accent was so strong, we could not understand / hear half of what she said. Alladdin was also very friendly. Each character does a good job, and talks to you for a few seconds, and a quick picture.

Granted, the service may not always be the best, but you may have even gotten someone fairly new. Soda is certainly included, he should have known that. My DW always gets a soda at breakfast and we've never had to pay for it.

Sorry your experience was not as magical as you'd hoped. We go every year, but not because the food and service are to rave about. The atmosphere is nice, to be in the castle. Food and service are average. Character interaction is only ok. However, if you have little girls sharing the experience with them is more than worth it. Once the DW and I are empty nesters (not for a long time) we won't be heading to the castle that quickly.

It's like a Visa commercial. Service...eh. Food..edible. Atmosphere..nice. Watching your little girls face as the Princesses enter the room.......PRICELESS.

We have been to Cindy's twice with my daughter who is now 5. The first time we went it was just amazing to watch her face light up when she saw the princesses. She still talks about it! (She was only 2 at the time!) We were talking about going to Disneyland and she asked about eating "in the castle" there too. Unfortunately, they don't do that at DL.

The food was okay. I don't think it was worth the price we paid, but when you have little ones, you go for the experience. I will never ever forget the joy I saw on my DD's face the first time we ate there.

For those out there reading this post and debating whether or not Cindy's is worth the hassle, my answer would have to be yes!! You can always grab a little snack later if you are still hungry (hey, that's what Mickey bars are for!!), but you will never forget the experience!

mkymouse4ever,

You mentioned that Wendy and Aladdin were there. Can I ask who else? Last trip my then 2 year old DS fell in love with Wendy. We have 3 pictures of him with her -- all taken at different times. The last time she even recognized us. Just curious who you saw. If Wendy was there during our visit (11/8 for my birthday), that would make his day! Thanks.

heres my 2 cents,
we ate here last year and i also got up early and all that jazz.....we were treated like royalty ( and we were there in june, busy, HOT and full)
the waitress always refered to the girls as " my ladies " and my DH as "my lord"
we thought the food was fabulous and the service was impeckable, princesses were friendly and we were very happy.

so happy that we will try again for as long as it takes to get CRT for our trip this year.

Lots of people love the Cinderella breakfast here, so you'll get lots of people disagreeing with you. I agree with you. The food isn't great and the characters are very businesslike: say hello, take the picture now I'll sign your book, all in about one minute. Oh look, here's the waitress with the check right behind the last princess.

When I asked my kids about doing a character breakfast this year, they said "We don't need to do that this year. We see plenty of characters in the park." And I swear I've never said one negative thing about the breakfast in front of them. Aladdin was also the most friendly character when we were there. Ariel, in her grotto, was much friendlier than any of the princesses and spent much more time with them, and seemed to really enjoy her job.

I think the service is a BIG part of it.

We had a great server in 2001 and loved the breakfast...

In 2003, we had a male server that could have cared less about us and I felt robbed a bit...He ruined the magic for me...

Hope I get the ressies I want this year and if it's the same guy, I will ask for a different server.

We loved it! We were treated great, gots lots of individual attention from all of the Princesses with DD and we really enjoyed the food as well.

I have to say that out of all of the character meals this one is the worst. The food is not very good, and certainly not worth $19.99. We had good service, but were very disappointed with the meal in general.

The character interaction is quite rushed. I will not go back.

Yes, the atmosphere of dining is the castle is great, and having princesses come over and speak to the children is nice, it just is not worth the cost or hassle of the 7:00 a.m. booking.

Just my .02 also.

I agree with the OP. We went on th Fourth of July 2003 at 8am. I was so excited to get the PS. My DD couldn't wait. That was our first PS for our vacation. The food was edible at best. The server we had was OK but I did feel Very Rushed to leave when the last princess did her rounds. To me it just wasn't worth the money. This year we are trying Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fair. DD still wants to see Cindy. I told her we had to go to the GF because I couldn't get a PS this time. (We're going for Thanksgiving). I might try the Castle again some other time, but if I'm dropping that kind of money (5 of us), then I want to be able to eat the food. Just my opinion.

After calling and calling to get PSs for our trip in a couple of weeks I finally got PSs for Sept 14 at 9:40am. Now my DD11 tells me she doesn't want to go. She has always wanted to eat in the castle, still does but since she is not a breakfast person, she isn't interested. Since Sleeping Beauty is my favorite, we will cancel. Plus since we are staying concierge why pay $30 plus just to see Cinderella. Oops forgot to mention we saw her during our last stay when we went to Storybook breakfast in Epcot. Was not impressed with it.

Anyone ever eat lunner in the castle? How was it?

Well we are going for one reason only.....

My almost 3 yr old LOVES LOVES AND LOVES Cinderella and everytime she sees the castle anywhere on TV, computer etc.. she lights up. I am going in there with minimal expectations except to be "in the castle" celebrate my daughters b-day and have her say hello to cinderella. I am sure we will do Park Fare or something else next time but this is a first for all of us and I just had to do it. ;)

Lunch and Dinner in the castle are great. I have never done the breakfast there, because I am not a big breakfast eater, and I don't really care for anything on the menu.

Lunch and dinner though... YUM! The prime rib is delicious and the Smoothies are great. There are no characters at the lunch and dinners, but the atmosphere is nice.

DH, DD6 and I love it. We have eaten there the past two times that we went, once with DD as Aurora and once as Cinderella. This year she is Belle (last year's Halloween Costume). Our service has always been great and even the food is pretty good as far as we are concerned.

But, everyone is different (thank goodness...:)) and I could see where if we didn't have our own little princess with us, it might not be as much fun.

We will keep going as long as she wants to. Actually, DH said the other day that he couldn't wait to eat breakfast in the castle... ...perhaps he has a crush on a princess that resides there :hyper: ??

its weird how you guys say you don't like the food, cuz that's about the only reason my friends and I go! We have a billion pics with all the princesses cuz I can probably say that I have been to breakfast there about 8 times in the past 2 years......cheese french toast! yum! And when another princess can't make it, the guys usually fill in....and it takes them a lot longer to make the rounds, which slows down the restaurant.

Talking about the princesses' paths......they do the window, then the center, then the wings usually.....it all depends on who needs to be seen before they leave.....

Being the original poster, my intention was NOT to start an argument, or get flamed. It was to make people who do not obtain the golden "breakfast ressie" feel like there trip will truely be lacking. We for several attempts never obtained the ressie's and finally got to go. We were VERY dissappointed and will not be returning for breakfast. I feel most of our problems where accountable to our waiter, who changed the experince from exciting and special to mediocore in seconds flat. From there it just kept going down hill. I especially felt bad for the several tables of large families around us, who had the same experince as us, with this waiter. I saw several wives holding back there husbands from exploding on this guy, for the kids sake. I feel the experince would of been different with a different waiter.

We have always enjoyed lunch & dinner's at the castle and did so on this trip also. We did not see this waiter working lunch or dinner when we where there. There are "no" scheduled characters at those meals, but once and a while someone might pop up. ;)

I was asked about character's there: wendy, aladdin, cinderella, aurora, snow white (I think), mary poppins, and the fairy godmother in the lobby.

By all means if you have the ressie and its to go for you children's sake, GO! ::MinnieMo But don't feel left out or missing out if you could not get one. The same character's can be found in the judges tent at mickey's toontown fair & mainstreet. ;) & breakfast cost about the same as room service. ::yes::
