For those of you that use your slow cooker

This sounds like a great idea, however, I was wondering if you used your slow cooker inside or outside your camper? I'm somewhat of a worry wart, and I think I would be afraid of something shorting out or shaking the camper and knocking the crock pot over (ok, these would be freak accidents, but I did say I was a worry wart) and burning :firefight the camper down if it were inside. Outside I would worry about some of those raccoons that are the size of large dogs or other critters.

Do you leave the slow cookers on while you are gone all day or do you only use them when you spend the day in the campground where you can check on it every couple of hours? :hourglass

We tent so our only choice is to leave it outside, on the picnic table under the screen house. Some folks put a milk crate over it and weight it to ward off critters. But as far as using it inside a camper, it ought to be the same as using it inside your house when you're gone all day to work or whatever. Put it on a hard surface and keep flamables away from it. As long as your crockpot and camper are newer and in good working order, it's not likely you need to worry about a power short. And these things are just NOT going to knock over unless the camper falls over! It really will be fine! :goodvibes

I use mine inside the camper, and I do use it when we're away at the parks. I usually set it in the sink, so I'm not worried about it tipping. There's no magic to the sink - I have it there because I have no counterspace. I've thought about the possibility of shorts, but I don't really worry about it. I've never had any electrical appliance cause a problem in the camper and I've never had a problem with my crockpot at home when it was unattended all day.

I use mine outside, just plug it in and go. Never had a critter bother it -maybe the heat keeps them away. :teeth: But the milk crate idea isn't bad. I love the convenience of having the crockpot. Be sure to buy the crockpot liners. They work great and then there's nothing to have to wash. :thumbsup2

We tent camp, so we leave ours outside on the picnic table, in the screen tent. We've never had any critters bother it (in 18 years!). In fact, we've never even seen a racoon in FW! We see armadillos, but as far as I know, they don't eat roast, so I think we're safe from them. ;)

I use mine inside the camper on the cutting board that is over my stove top.

It probably is unusual but we leave them all day at home and think nothing of it.

I just make sure the cord is not touching it.

:tink:

We were just there last week and used the crock pot for the first time. We had in in the camper right on the counter. We always had it on low. I was worried at first but dh said that it would be just like if we did it at home and left it on all day.
