DO IT!!! We just returned from a 10-day trip and my DD4 received SO MUCH attention in her costumes! There was SUCH a noticable difference in attention on the days she wore her outfits and the days she didn't. She had a Minnie Mouse dress, a Cinderella dress, an Ariel wedding dress, a Sleeping Beauty dress, and an Alice in Wonderland dress. I had gotten these costumes for her mainly for the character meals, not expecting that she would actually wear them on the rides, so she had on shorts underneath. However, she LOVED wearing the costumes and only took them off when it rained. (We just rolled it up and placed it in a ziplock bag in our backpack...very easy.) We actually experienced a "magic moment" with her Cinderella dress which I will post later. :sunny:

Even at Blizzard Beach, I was surprised to see that she was the only one with a Disney swimsuit and got a lot of attention from the lifeguards. They kept calling her "Tinkerbell" and she LOVED it! She was truly a princess every day! princess:

I bet those outfits made your DD's time much more fun and memorable. It's not everyday you get to be a princess princess: , (except in WDW!!) And I'm sure you got GREAT pictures! :)

oh yea! I am so excited now, we planned on doing this with our daughter who will be 3.5 at the time of our trip. Those of you who let your dd's wear the dresses all day, do you still put regular clothes underneath? I know th OP said she put shorts on her dd, but if you planned on letting them wear their dresses all day, are shorts or t's under really necessarry?

I am glad you had a fun time! Post some of your pictures, would love to see them

Despite the heat, my 2.5 yo dd LOVED wearing her dresses at the end of May. We saw lots of other little girls doing the same.

I sincerely want to say how sweet that must have been for your daughter! And now I must say that I'm bummed! On our last trip, I brought our daughter's costumes for character meals and forgot to put them in them! Now, I'm sad! :guilty:

Thanks so much for posting that - I've been trying to decide whether to bring the dresses or not. I think DD will love wearing them & I know she'll definitely love extra attention!!! princess:

My 4 yo dd loves to dress up. The problem is that she enjoys doing this from head to toe (tiara, dress, wand and shoes). She currently has a Snow White dress and a Cinderella dress. I plan to take one when we go in late September. Do the girls dress up from head to toe at the park as well? I will probably try to convince her to wear regular shoes. I've also told the grandparents that we will allow dd to pick out a dress at WDW as a souvenir so they'll be paying for that :)

My girls always wear their dresses & that is definitely part of the fun! One time my blondie(older daughter) was dressed as Tinkerbelle when we were having bfast at the castle. Peter Pan showed up, jumped on our table and started crowing and yelling that he found Tink! Wow, did she get the attention from everyone! My daughter was only 2/3 yrs old at the time and she remembers it now at almost 9 years old. Those dresses have really brought on several magical moments for us through the years. Other characters have played with my "princess" daughters, they have been sprinkled with Pixie dust by CMs at restaurants, and we have overheard other little children ask their parents if my daughters were the "real" princesses. Now that my older daughter really doesn't want to wear them any more it is kind of sad for me. Enjoy your little princesses when they are young and into dressing the part. I have a 5 yr old, too, so I have a couple more years yet with her! :flower:

I don't think the dresses are made too well - don't wash well at all, but they last a trip or two and are then used for dress-up play.

Have fun! They're only young once.

My daughter wore her Sleeping Beauty outfit every morning during our 4-day trip to Disneyland in December. She got a ton of extra attention.

Our magical moment. Entering the hub on our first day. We hear somebody screaming "Little Sleeping Beauty, Little Sleeping Beauty" It was Sleeping Beauty and Prince Philip coming over to our daughter to visit with her. It took us by surprise that we forgot to snap pictures :(

Reading this thread makes me SOOOOOOOOOOO happy that #4 turned out to be a girl!!! :cloud9:
I had already planned to sew a Snow White dress out of breathable cotton material for our (probably hot) Sept. trip. After reading this, I'm really gonna try to make a Sleeping Beauty gown and maybe a Minnie dress :earsgirl: too.......................oh, I'm so excited!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I have no sewing capabilities (I would probably permanently attach myself to the fabric), and my wife is too busy -- where would you all recommend getting nice princess dresses? I have a DD3 and a DD nearly 1, so I think we could get a few years out of them!

My personal preference would be to splurge a little bit and get something that might be a little higher quality, maybe lined so it wouldn't be scratchy, and maybe a little more detailed in the pattern.

We just got ours (DD4-sleeping beauty, and DD2-belle hand me down from big sis) from the Disney Store. We got them very near Halloween so they were on sale. I always mean to go there right after halloween to see if they are even more discounted.

My DD4 does not like anything scratchy on her body (it seems to be trunk and feet that are her main concerns). No lace. She will wear the itchy princess dresses with a shirt underneath them. It does not look comfortable to me. She is fine with it... and it does not look nearly as bad as you would thing.

The only head to toe dressing I saw was for the meals...oops, take that back. My DD did wear her Minnie ears all throughout the park, but that was it. She doesn't even own the shoes...even for play. They just look WAY too uncomfortable to me.

Have fun! And, as someone mentioned...they're only young once. :earsgirl:

Thanks for that info. Our plans were for our dd age 4 to wear her Cinderella dress for the princess luncheon, but I think we'll take the Jasmine dress too!!! And the Little Mermaid swimsuit is already packed. She insisted on this and is so excited - almost as much as me!!!

Hi I got my DD's (4) off Ebay, they had a ton of selection from the really ornate $50 to the $10 preworn type. I got her tinkerbell, cinderella, minnie mouse (my fav. with the black sequins on the top) and sleeping beauty. Sleeping beauty is her favorite since it came with a wand and shoes. I just washed them with a little bleach in the water and they are like new. Just depends on what your looking for and what you want to spend. I really love the Bell's Christmas dress in red, but it isnt worth $38 to me. :flower:

When I took my daughter when she was three we bought a snow white dress for her to wear for the princess storybook breakfast. The princesses all fawned over her, especially snow white and my daughter was so excited she wouldn't take the dress off until she got really hot!! I will definitely have something for both princesses (1 and 5)to wear this summer! princess: princess:

Tell her she has to wear her regular shoes when going around the park, but she can put them on if you have a character meal or some other event where you aren't running around.

PLEASE tell me where you found the Ariel wedding dress. MY oldest DD would love that. TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking PERFECT birthday present. ;)

Paula Sue,

Hi! :wave2: I got the Ariel dress when we were at Disney. It's available in every store that sells the princess stuff. I wasn't planning on buying a dress down there (they're so expensive) but when I saw it, I had to get it! :teeth: Maybe you can find it at the Disney Store if your trip is not coming up soon?

They will ship it to you. We just bought the Ariel Brides dress there in May. My daughter wears it EVERY day! We also bought the Jasmne one but she didn't like it because it wasn't a "dress".

We sent it back and they are sendng the Aurora dress in its place. If I find the phone # I'll post it for you, but I am 99% sure w/ a phone call and a credit card, that dress is yours!

Donna

We got the dress at "the world of disney store" in downtown disney.
