If you have not done so already, get whatever supplies you may need now.

I went to our Super Walmart earlier today and it was very crowded. I figured it wouldn't be too bad, but I was wrong. The canned food/goods shelves were almost empty and the aisle was VERY crowded. There were no C and D batteries left, plastic utensils were almost gone (there were some spoon packages left), most of the plastic cups were also gone (only the thin plastic cups were left). A man pushed my cart out of his way and began to put baked beans cans in his cart. When I tried to move my cart, I bumped into his shoe and he wasn't happy. I apologized to him, but he didn't even look at me.  I can't imagine what the store will be like at the last minute.

I'm sure that the employees will continue to re-stock the shelves, but it's best to go before desperation sets in.

Anyway, don't wait until later in the week to get what you need, get it done soon.

I pray that this hurricane doesn't make landfall, but I think that even if we don't get the worst of it, our weather will still be affected.

I just heard on the weather channel that this storm is strengtening.

Good luck to you all.

Oh man, the eye of the storm looks really small and well defined. Big storm with a small eye, thats never a good sign. All you folks in Florida please be careful and keep your heads down.

~Some of my family is out on the Disney Western Cruise~

Thank goodness the itinerary has been completely reversed,
they were supposed to be at Castaway Cay this Friday.

My sister called and said they will probably dock in Miami saturday
instead of Port Canaveral and be "bussed" up into PC.

I have my fingers crossed that they'll get out of there before Frances hits.

~My prayers are with all of you in his path~

Be Safe...

 That thing looks huge! Will be keeping you and all in its way in prayers, Rita. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/17/17_1_10.gif' alt='Prayer' border=0></a>

Hey Sandy, Was worried about you yesterday, how did you fare with Gaston??

I went to the Walmart here in Sanford earlier and there was no water at all, no C or D batteries and the canned food was almost gone. I'm glad we are leaving on Friday to visit family in Tennessee.

:wave2: We did okay. Richmond definitely got it worse than we did. And I heard VA Beach basically had some wind. That's it. Strange that it was worse inland. Must have been moving up and over in NC. We were fortunate and just had strong wind and rain. A couple nearby towns had tornados.

I tried to copy the latest image from NHC but it was huge. Maybe someone else can do it.

Thetrack has shifted inland a bit more. It's not looking like this will turn out to sea.

Reminder: fill your tank with gas before the weekend. Lots of people didn't do this before Charley and wish they had.

Boy, I'm not looking forward to the weekend!

Hi Rita,

I was probably at the same Walmart as you today. The one on Coral Ridge Drive. They were out of water and the store was crowded.

I hope Francis misses us.

And to add a couple of tips:

If you have the room in your freezer now, freeze some water in big containers, so you are making blocks of ice. That way if you lose power, the ice can help you keep your stuff from spoiling as quickly.

Also, you might want to fill some other containers of water in case your water supply is temporarily compromised.

I hope you all stay safe, and Frances decides to be a fickle woman, and swing out to sea and misses everyone.

IMPORTANT TIP - I got this from a Florida native: stock up on your favorite ice cream in case the power goes out - and you "have to" eat it all!! ;)

Seriously - a good tip is to turn your refigerator temp up - so that's it's colder - to give yourself a head start if the power goes out.

And charge up your cell phones.

Get CASH in case ATM's are out of $ or no power.

My ds and her 3 children are in Jacksonville - her DH is w/Servicemaster and is in Punta Gorda, cleaning up after Charley... he called her today and told her to head my way (TN).

It looks like we'll have a full house starting tomorrow evening!
