We are anticipating a move clear across the country this summer (Halifax to Victoria). We were looking at airfare to Orlando and it is 1/2 the price to fly from Seattle than Victoria :confused3 . Was wondering if anyone has flown from Seattle and if so, what is the easiest way to get there? Take the passenger ferry right to Seattle or take the car ferry to Port Angeles and drive? The passenger ferry seems to be more expensive. I am open to suggestions!!

We live on Vancouver Island ourselves and have flown to Orlando out of Seattle several times. The passenger ferry, the Clipper, goes to downtown Seattle and then you'd have to get yourselves out to the airport which I'm sure is not a problem.

We've taken BC Ferries over to the mainland and then driven down to Seattle, found a hotel that will park our car for us and has a shuttle to the airport. That seems to be the cheapest way for us. BC Ferries for 2 people and a vehicle is about $55 one way. The Coho to Port Angeles is $50ish US one way. Now that our exchange rate is so good, the Coho is actually not a bad option.

The Clipper is $200 US return (for 2) and then the shuttle to the airport is approx. $21 US pp each way. Hope that info helps!!!

Thanks for your reply :sunny: . I forgot about taking the ferry to Vancouver and driving down. Probably makes more sense (money wise) than taking the passenger ferry to Seattle. Do you drive to Seattle and fly out the same day? How long is the drive from Vancouver to Seattle airport? Thanks.

A lot depends on the border lineup. There are two crossings close to the ferry - Peace Arch and Pacific Hwy (the 'truck' crossing, cars allowed)

It's 220 km from the ferry to Seattle, but traffic going through Seattle can be a nightmare sometimes, so you may need to choose the I-5 or the I-405 as your route once you near Seattle (tune to the local radio station for traffic updates)

Usually takes about 2.5 hours straight driving from Vancouver to Seattle, barring border waits and traffic snarls.

You may want to consider the Coho option - I keep meaning to try it. It lands you in Port Angeles, which is still a lengthy drive to Seattle, but via the Olympic Penninsula and thereby missing some of the nasty traffic (but still hitting potential traffic south of Seattle....)
