...are the sizes the same in each store? I know they are owned by the same company, so I was wondering if, for instance, I take a certain size jeans in Old Navy, will I take the same size jeans in Gap?

I know it's a dumb question, but long story short, I have to order online and can't try on the clothes in person. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

They aren't the same in kids. My daughter wears a 12 at Old Navy and a 10 at Gap Kids. Not sure if adults will be the same.

Gap clothes fit me well, Old Navy clothes do not. While the sizes might be the same, the cuts of the clothing are very different so they don't fit the same.

Gap jeans seem smaller to me than Old Navy,

I'm the same size at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. Some styles are made bigger or smaller, but I can usually just pick up my regular size and buy it without trying on.

They are different. Gap jeans are the perfect length for me, Old Navy are way too long (and I'm talking the short, ankle length).

I've had different luck with different styles in the same store. I've ordered similar sized items from Old Navy on-line and some items fit and some items did not.

Also, different cuts will fit you differently. For example, in low rise, I can wear a smaller size than regular. One day I went to both stores, bought a size 8 at the gap and a size 10 at ON.

They differ between the two stores and I've found that at Old Navy sizing actually differs even within the styles. I can try on the same size in two same pairs of pants and have them fit me differently. Happens with DD, too. We try on 3-4 pairs of the same pants in the same size until we find the ones that fit the best.

You took the words right out of my mouth! This is one thing that bothers me with Old Navy. You can buy two pairs of the same exact type of jean and one will fit perfectly and the other one won't fit at all. It makes me wonder what goes on at the factory and what kind of templates they use.

I've had the same thing happen to me.

I usually wear diff sizes in both stores - of course at Old Navy, just diff pairs of jeans!

Not a dumb question at all! Remember you can return online purchases in teh store, if that helps some.

I have a friend who used to work at Old Navy and she told me to ALWAYS try on clothes from there. She said the difference between Gap and Old Navy is the number of items that are cut at a time (for example, Gap clothes are 5 at a time and Old Navy clothes are cut 10 at a time--numbers are purely for example--because so many items are cut at the same time, the clothes can be different sizes). I hope this is clear (I know what I am trying to say, but I am having trouble describing it).

Thanks, everyone. My problem is that I have Old Navy jeans and want to order Gap jeans, but can't try on the Gap jeans. I think I'll just order the same size and if they don't fit, I'll take advantage of the free shipping on returns. Thanks for all the info!
