Hiya! We have been to WDW for b'days before, but without children! Just wondering where/how you spent your child's 1st b'day! We were thinking of getting PS's at Chef Mickey's or maybe Crystal Palace? How did you spend that "ONEderful" day?

We took our DD for her first birthday in July. We started off with breakfast at the castle, first haircut on mainstreet and had dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I was not very impressed with breakfast in the castle but we will try it again when she is older. If you little one has enough hair I would go for the first haircut at the barber shop. She got first haircut Mickey ears and a certificate. They wrapped up her hair clippings with pixie dust for me to take home. I think it was around $14. Dinner at Park Fare was awesome! Very good food and excellent character interaction. Prince Charming came to sing happy birthday to her and she got a crown. The whole day was a lot of fun.

We took DS for his first b-day. We stayed in the AKL concierge so we had breakfast there before heading out the to MK. First stop was to get DS's first pair of personalized Mickey ears and the second stop was for the "Today is My Birthday" button. Everywhere we went, all the CMs made a huge fuss over DS.

We went to the earliest lunch at Crystal Palace so as not to interfere with naptime (DS gets crabby if he misses his nap). The food was good and DS was mesmorized by the characters- I highly recommend it. We ate at Chef Mickey's another day but DS much preferred Crystal Palace. I think it was because he was familiar with the Pooh characters but didn't know most of the ones at Chef Mickey's (Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale). We arranged to have a cake so we could celebrate at the resort in the evening. All in all, it was a wonderful day.

Oh, and I almost forgot one of the highlights. We had silhouettes made of DS on his birthday and gave one to each set of grandparents. Honestly, that silhouette of my baby's sweet little one-year-old face is one of my most prized possessions!

We had such a wonderful trip, we are taking DS#2 there for his first b-day, too- I must get another silhouette :)

Have fun. The first birthday is very special.

Just watching for ideas. My twins turn one in the spring and we are planning a birthday celebration trip.

Thanks! That is exactly what we planned to do ... if his hair will grow! LOL! DH asked me if we get discount if he doesn't have much more hair by then! LOL!

I think mistaroo was right about CP maybe being better since they are more familar with Pooh and friends!

Any other ideas? Thanks bunches!

We are celebrating our son's 1st birthday a little early -- we took him to the Princess Breakfast at Epcot on Monday (one week before his birthday) and he was the very lucky recipient of kisses from TWO princesses (Mulan and Aurora) and we have the most INCREDIBLE pictures of him with two goregous lipstick/lip prints on his forehead and cheek! So don't discount some interaction with human Characters as part of the celebration!

This is just the thread I needed. We will be there for DS first birthday in 4 weeks time. I have a PS booked at Crystal Palace already and had planned on the haircut too. I knew about the birthday button but would love to get the personalised Mickey ears. Where can I get these, helpful DISers?
It also happens to be Spectro and Wishes that night so are planning on these too. We know he likes fireworks so this is a good sign.
Thanks for a very useful thread,
Claire

BTW,Briannesmom, your little girl is absolutely gorgeous. It made me tear up seeing her with Prince Charming and she clearly had a wonderful day. Thankyou for sharing your precious moments with us.

Perfect thread for me too :D . We will be going in Feb for DGS's 1st BD,we were planning on getting the Mickey ears hat, but would also like to know where to get it personalized. Any other 1st BD hints/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :flower: Thanks, Karen

Fizz13 and karensi- in the Magic Kingdom I always get my personalized ears at The Chapeau (in the vicinity of Tony's Town Square restaurant).

Also wanted to add that when we went in 2002, the Animal Kingdom had its own "today is my birthday" button which was different than the one we got in the MK.

Have fun :) I have another 1st bday to celebrate in July and can't wait, either.

We loved the first haircut at the Barbar Shop. Michael was so sweet with out little one. AND they give you a pair of mouse ears that say 1st haircut on the back!

If you want the mouse ears with his name, I know there's a shop in Fantasyland that does it as well as the Chapeau on Main Street.

We also love the character breakfast at Crystal Palace. We do a PS before the park opens and then are right there to ride the rides at 9 a.m.

Thanks to all the helpful tips from this board I have booked Chef Mickey's and The Crystal Palace. CM will be the night we arive, which is the day before DGS 1st BD, and then CP for breakfast on THE DAY. Have been to DW many times in the past, just returned on Dec 5th, but looking forward to this trip in a special way. It will probanly be alittle slower paced, but thats fine, it gives you time to stop and smell the roses

Fizz- are you back yet and how did your ds's 1st bday go?

We made PS for Crystal Palace for DS's 1st bday in May ... then, hopefully a trip to the barber shop (if he has any hair by then  )!
