Question: If I completly freak out on our local annual carnival roller coaster (Woo, Calgary Stampede, baby!) that is about 30 feet high and goes down once, and my last trip to WDW I thought I would die on ToT and Universal's Jurassic Park, is the RNRC a bad idea for me? I've read alot about it - and I'm petrified of those slow moving lift hills, which I know that it doesn't have!

Any thoughts?

i would say i don't know
the begginning part (the launch) is the worst part (tat's what i say anyway) but the rest is smooth but seeing as i only went on twice dring our 2nd trip and haven't been on scince
:o :p

Well you dont have a slow moving lift hill on RnR....It kinda shoots you out and you are gonna fast out of the gate....But its great fun

My office mate is in your boat. His last trip to WDW I talked him into doing R'nRollercoaster based on there being no slow, high climb, no spacial frame of reference due to the darkness and very little of that 'stomach dropping out' feeling that sudden drops cause. He has a ball and was a hero to his 13 yr old daughter. Just do it!

Honestly, I think you'll be fine. The thing I hate about coasters is the height. The speed and movement don't bother me, just the height. Well RNRC doesn't have the height. The launch is really nothing. It's very smooth and only lasts a second or two. After that it's nothing.

I am also scared to death of roller coasters but I want to change! lol What makes the rollor coasters fun if your eyes are open? Do you see anything special or is all physical?
Which roller coaster would you suggest I go on first? The drops is what freaks me out!

Big Thunder Moutain Railroad is a good starter coaster mostly turns no real big drops....Next would be Splash Mountain just to deal with drops, next would be Space Moutain to deal with drops and darkness then RnR for it all with loops added in...

However, we never miss the chance to ride RNR a couple times while at WDW! It's all in the dark, so you don't know what's coming, which is great for us. Because you can't see the loops, they're done before you know they're there. The anticipation is probably the most exilharating part of the ride. While in the queue line, you get to watch the cars blast into the tunnel, wheels squealing like crazy. It's a great effect! The ride is awesome. For us, and like I said, we are not rollercoaster fans, this is a do not miss attraction!
Try it, you'll love it!

I went on the RnRC at DH's urging, and I am a big wussie when it comes to thrill rides, and I am also among those who hate the big drops on roller coasters. As you've heard, there are no big drops on RnRC - just a very fast start and some loops. The takeoff is very intense and fast, and I'll admit that I kept my eyes closed the whole time, owing to the fact that I'm such a chicken. I did feel a little queasy when I got off, but then again I had been feeling a little "off" the whole week, so I'm not sure how much of it was due to the ride. The ride seems very short - it was over much more quickly than I had expected - and it was very smooth, not at all jerky. Give it a try - I expect you'll probably be fine. If I had the chance to do it again, I think I'd even try to keep my eyes open!

I have always been a wuss about roller coasters but decided that life begins at 40 and finally attempted several! I've found that I don't mind the type that have the safety restraint coming over your shoulders; that makes me feel much safer. I also prefer the smooth ones. Because of those things I have ridden RnR and Kracken at SW and, although I can't say I'm an enthusiast, at least I don't stand around waiting for my husband anymore! I have only done Space Mountain once, however, and I didn't like that at all.

I don't mind TofT, but I will not be doing that ride at Islands of Adventure that shoots you upwards at 100mph again!

Vicki.
