For the Love of Bread Pudding

We are looking to get bread pudding for dessert on January 6 at the Polynesian, but without a table service reservation at Ohana.
I see older posts from March where one stated you can order it at the Tambu lounge even though it is not on the menu. I’m looking for recent confirmation that this is still an option.

Also, I see it on the menu for Kona Café to go, but it’s my understanding that the to go closes soon, since the Kona Café is re-opening as a table service. Does anyone know if the Kona Café to go option will still continue in January?

I wonder if I could just call them and ask but I don’t know where to start.

I know this is a lot of trouble to go through for dessert but I read it is very yummy and I want to try it out.

Kona to-go was in place even when the restaurant was open so my guess is it'll stay around (several hotel TS spots have it as an option). Be aware that they close to-go orders when the kitchen gets busy. In the same way, Tambu offers some 'Ohana food but if they are short-staffed, they may not be able to either.

It is tasty - not the best on property IMO but in the top 3! Hope you're able to try it!

Bread pudding is okay but doesn't compare to the delight that is Rose & Crown's Sticky Toffee Pudding.

The menu description explains why: Steamed Pudding “Cake” served with Warm Vanilla Custard and Hot Butter-Rum Sauce.

I swear that given a cup of that custard and sauce, I'd drink every bit.

Together, it makes bread pudding seem not to be making much of an effort. ;)

I loooove sticky toffee pudding, so much so that I ate it most days in my last trip to the UK.

I had a reservation at Rose & Crown, which I canceled in favor of some Sebastian’s Bistro. I’m wondering if I should change it back to R & C...wouldn’t even have to leave EPCOT. There are no available reservations, but maybe I could do a walk up?

I don't need to tell you what I'd do, I'm guessing. 😀

The bangers and mash are pretty tasty as are fish & chips, IMO.

I wouldn't try that of an evening but might work around noon depending on time of year.

We've rarely found it crowded at lunch in mid-November, busy but not that bad.

Aren’t they closed for lunch?

It’s not a huge deal - I have an annual pass, so I can always do it next time around.

Dunno. Didn't check, so sorry if I gave misleading info.

They used to serve lunch pre-covid.

Foolish of me to have presumed that hasn't changed.

no need to apologize !

Oh really? I imagine they will again - it‘s going to take awhile before things get back to normal

Bread pudding is on the updated dessert menu at the reopened Kona. The Ohana bread pudding is also available at Tambu Lounge (while Ohana kitchen is open). No idea if there’s a difference.

There’s also a bread pudding dessert at Boma but it’s more like a “banana bread” pudding. Wasn’t my cup of tea.

You all do know that real bread pudding is a really easy desert to bake at home? If you want to get fancy add a hot buttered rum sauce. Sometimes I use cut up bits of dried apricots instead of raisins. Sourdough works best.
