Don't really care. I have had both male and female doctors.

Honestly I just worry about trusting them and having one that will take 5 mins to talk to me like I am not an idiot.

currently I have a female doctor and yup, she gives me the turn and cough check and finger probe..

Actually, I know a few women who prefer male OB-GYNs.

Gender of the doctor doesn't matter to me. I've had both, and lots of other factors are more important than their sex.

DH and I see the same primary care doctor - he's male and I really like him. He listens to his patients which is something hard to find.

My OB/GYN is male and I love him Really, really love him. He has a perfect balance of making you feel taken care of without being condescending. It helps that he saved mine and DS's life when I was pregnant. What's funny though is that DH loves him almost as much as I do; he's great with hubbies too. If I had to look for another one, I suppose I might initially try to find a female but having a male doc doesn't bother me.

Our primary care doctor for many years was a woman, but my husband went to a male doctor for his prostate exam and testicular cancer check. A couple of years ago he switched to a male primary care doctor who is much closer to our home (making it easier for him to get there), and that doctor takes care of everything now.

In my case, I do prefer a female doctor, but I had recently had a situation that caused my primary to send me to a specialist. He was male, but he was exceptional and helped make a bad situation at least a little better.

I prefer a male doctor, personally, for regular prostate exams. I had to have a testicular ultrasound a few years back, and it was very uncomfortable since the tech was a woman. She was very nice, professional and understanding, but it was still uncomfortable.

Had a male Dr. and a female Physicans Assistant do it, doesn't matter who, I just wonder why they have to do it so often.

Female here and I prefer a male OB-GYN. FWIW, I've had the rectal exam done. Not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I can't believe how many men take their lives in their hands every year simply because of embarassment or a few seconds of discomfort. Props to all you guys who do go!

Since you're asking what fo men prefer, I'll answer for my husband: NO FEMALE DOCTOR or he isn't going!
