FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER...I'm NOT GOING HOME!! UPDATE DEC.30 PG 74

Hi Caitlin. I followed you over from MEK's TR! I was completely sucked in from your first post.... and with that CONGRATULATIONS on your DCP!

Count me as one who would love to participate in the Exploring Disney Heritage class. Who wouldn't want to learn more about Disney while visiting the parks. Sounds like the ultimate back-stage tour. How exciting for you!

How awesome that you get to see MEK again! :)

I love that Minnie top in the very first picture of you! Can you share where it was purchased? I'll have to start looking at Hot Topic due to your recommendation!

That is one of my many Hot Topic purchases! Once I start posting pics any time I have on a Disney tank top it will be from Hot Topic :thumbsup2

Congrats! I did attractions on 2 of my CPs (one at TSM, and one at GMR- that one was a blast!)

That sounds like two great rides to work at!

Welcome! Thank you!

I can't wait! Being a DISer I know a ton about Disney but it will be so interesting hearing what the company feels is important to know!

I am very excited to see her again! It was so great meeting her in May and this time it will be at a Star Wars breakfast :cool1:

I just looked at the Hot Topic selection and it's fantastic! Would you say they run true to size? Like if you wear one size in most major brands, would you wear the same in these tanks?

And I'm sorry for derailing your spectacular TR, I know that's probably frowned upon!

Congrats on the DCP! That's so exciting!!

What are you going to dress up as for the 24-hr party? When is your first day of work?

Congrats! I did the international college program this summer! My best piece of advice to you is dont plan everything and go with the flow! There will be days you are asked to stay late at work, days it rains and ruins your plans and nights you stay out way too late when you have to work at 7am. Take advantage of everything the program and Florida has to offer you!

EDIT:
I just also wanted to mention that you should request your time off as soon as you get there. It's a lottery for who gets it depending on your location.. for me it was quite easy because I was at BBB and there weren't many of us and most people already took their vacation, but my room mates got waitlisted a lot for their stuff.

So awesome to have a Disney Bucket List!! I need to make one. Maybe parasailing or something like that? Honestly not sure what else I haven't done - we are trying out the Poly Luau for the first time in October. I haven't eaten at Monsieur Paul, but am waiting for the menu to change a bit. Splitsville is a good one! one of our favorite evenings from the last trip included a carriage ride around fort wilderness, so I'd say do a carriage ride!

So cool you get to take the classes!! The 2nd one reminded me of the Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, if you haven't been there I would totally suggest planning a trip (plus it's gorgeous there - visit carmel and monterey too!). The museum is totally worthwhile!

I know! I have Gaston, Lady and the Tramp, Cruella, The Queen of Hearts, Maleficent as the Dragon, Cinderella, Mulan, the dwarfs from Snow White, Ursula, Aladdin and Jasmine that have never been worn waiting for my trip :lmao:

They are kinda big. They are the loose kind of tank tops so keep that in mind! They have also gotten a lot longer lately! The last few I ordered a kinda long but I still love them!

It's totally fine derail whenever you want to!

Congrats on the DCP! That's so exciting!!

Thank you!

I am planning on going as Fix it Felix! I won't know my first day of work until I get there! I am guessing it will probably be the Monday after I check in :confused3

Thank you! I will definitely be going with the flow when it comes to Disney :thumbsup2 I see people talking about buying Universal annual passes and I am like when will you have time :rotfl:

I planned on that! I also don't have a ton of days off to request maybe 12?

Parasailing would be fun! I totally forgot the carriage ride! I want to do that at Christmas time to see all of the trailers decorated!

That would be awesome! We might have to check it out next time we go to DL!

May Trip Plans

Day 1-2/ May 14 and 15

Finally I can talk about the trip plans! Don't worry if more comes up about the DCP I will be sure to fill y'all in!

May 14

This trip we are trying out a new airport! It was cheaper for us to drive to Flint and fly out of their airport then to fly out of Detroit :confused3 We also were able to score a direct flight :cool1: The only difficulty will be fitting all of my suitcases in the car :rotfl: I am already packed and have 5! Hey I am moving to Disney for 8 months that's not overpacking!

So once we get to the airport, around 3, we will be boarding the ME and going here

Yep we are staying at our favorite resort! We always get great service here and who doesn't like to do the twist at their resort?!

Once we get situated we will be taking a bus over to DHS and either walking or boating over here

Yep the Beach Club! We have a dinner ADR at Cape May! This restaurant is great with my gluten allergy! There is a ton to eat! Speaking of gluten free.. Shameless plug for my Gluten Free in Disney page

After this we will be heading to

to get a boat to

to watch this guy

My dad has never seen Yeehaw Bob before but I know he will enjoy it! My mom and I had a blast when we went to see him so we knew my dad needed to experience it as well!

We will then head to the resort and get some rest for my big day tomorrow!

May 15

I honestly cannot wait for this day!!! We will wake up and grab some breakfast and I will be splitting off from mom and dad to head to this

YEP!!! I am that big of a Star Wars fan that I will pay $250 to go in to the store early! Got a problem with it?

Good didn't think so! :rotfl: The cost also includes this cool stuff!

You can also order special RR items that are only available at the event!

I ordered a name tag for myself that will say I am from Alderaan anyone who knows the significance will get an imaginary cookie and kudos! I also ordered one for my dad as a surprise that says Jedi Master! I am so excited about this! I saw someone with the name tag on at May the 4th last year so I have had this on my "must have Disney souvies" list for a while!

Besides all the cool stuff Ashley Eckstein will be there debuting her new Her Universe collection! For those of you that don't know Her Universe creates geeky clothing that is cute for girls! Most of her stuff can be seen on Hot Topic's website and consists of Star Wars, Doctor Who and The Walking Dead. I love the clothes that she makes so I will definitely be getting something!

There will also be some characters here so between this and two other special Star Wars events I am doing I should be able to meet all of the characters without too much of a wait! Honestly that's why I am paying the money because I know I would stand in line for 4+ hours to get in the store and who knows how long for the characters! So although it may cost more it balanced out for me and I know mom and dad will enjoy our Star Wars Weekend time more now that we don't have the craziness of lines :thumbsup2

At some point we will meet up again. Probably at the hotel and get ready for our ADR here

Ohana! Where I can have that amazing meal again!!!

We will then head to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot and roam around and ride some rides :thumbsup2

sounds like some great plan!

Wondering with how much some airlines charge for extra bags if it might be cheaper to ship some of your bags down :rotfl:

The Rebel name tag looks really cool!

Caitlin, you are fully justified in your packing. I know some who pack that much for a week!!

You get no arguments from me staying at Pop Century Resort and Spa.

I have heard SO MUCH about Bob. I will see him one day.

I am so longing for the day when "Star Wars Weekends" will be an every day thing in Disney. It has to be coming... right??!!

Thank you!

We are flying Southwest which allows each person two checked bags :thumbsup2 We won't have to pay any extra for my bags! It worked out perfectly!

I know I am so excited to get one!

Thank you! I usually am good with just one carry on and my parents big bag for a week but this is a special circumstance

It's such a great resort!!

You need to go! Next trip it would be perfect for a dismeet :rolleyes1

I think if the special meals do well they will keep the breakfast at Sci Fi and once the movies come out I am sure there will be more of a presence in the parks! Disneyland is getting a Star Wars reno for their tomorrowland so WDW must be getting something!

Awesome!!!

Love the list of stuff, and love the bucket list, I've seen so many of them! The thing I know is on most of them is to eat the kitchen sink bahaha!

Those classes sound super awesome and fun!! Exciting!! :cool1:

I remember when I did my CP I drove my car down and I just threw everything in trash bags! But I'm sure if I flew I would have packed a ton of bags also. You should have seen my car after my CP was over, stuffed to the max!!!! Your May trip sounds great! If you like Yeehaw Bob (This brings back memories of working Saturday nights at Fulton's :goodvibes), you might like Jellyrolls. During my CP I was OBSESSED with JR, I was always there!

Pop Century is our favorite, too! There's just something about that place... it's like our Disney home for sure.

I need to see Bob over at Port Orleans sometime. Maybe one night on our September trip I can meet up with you over there for a drink and some fun music! :thumbsup2

you should have seen my car when I finished my program.. I drove down with everything packed in the trunk, came home with a full backseat :confused3 !!!! it's funny how things accumulate down there LOL

We'll be checking into Pop just 8 short days after you! This will be our first time staying there and I can't wait because I've heard it's a fav of many people!

Loving the bucket list and May trip plans so far!

I'm loving this TR and reading about each step as you experienced getting accepted into the CP, Princess Caitlin!

This is very interesting reading about the process in being accepted to the DCP. Although I am waaaayyyyy past the age for such a program, it has always intrigued me. I had a fraternity brother in college get accepted and he told me about his experiences in the late 1970's. Disney is VERY image conscious so I can understand about the tattoo questions. In the Disney business seminars and in the WDW Keys to the Kingdom Tour they discuss the "Disney way" and there is a reason for it to be so specific. They told us about the screening process for the main characters and how careful and in depth the research can be. Can you imagine a Mickey, Cinderella or other Princess character all of a sudden going beserk and start shouting at little kids? Talk about a PR nightmare, not to mention the emotional scars on the tykes! It wasn't said but I wouldn't be surprised if Disney also monitors, to one degree or another, various social media for their main characters. Nothing sends up a red flag like an employee bad-mouthing their employer on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or constantly dropping the "f" bomb or other don't-want-to-hear-those-words from their employees! :sad2: I know some CM's that think Disney is too strict in some of their requirements but there is a method to their madness and it obviously works or they would not be so successful and constantly voted the cream of the crop for theme parks and customer service. From what I've read in your TR's, you will be a perfect CM! Can't wait to read more about your journey.

I wanted to let you know that I was accepted into the CP which was to start in January 2014 but I had to turn it down due to personal reasons but you are never past the age to get in. I was accepted at the old age of 60 years old! My recruiter told me that they accept people of all ages and I just graduated with my Bachelors degree in Nov 2013. I am currently on a waitlist for a position for Disneyland Travel Company and waiting on a panel interview.

Thank you! I unfortunately could not have a kitchen sink so it isn't on mine :(

I know I can't wait!

Wow! That's crazy :rotfl2:

I went to Jellyrolls twice in November and have been there on other vacations :thumbsup2 I actually have a DISmeet planned for there later on in our May trip!

It's such a great resort! It has the Disney vibe and the people are so nice!

That sounds like a plan!
