? for Tampa area DISers re: Bilmar Beach Resort...

SO....DH and I are snowed in ....and dreaming of beaches, preferably Carribean, but that went out the window when we started plugging in our dates (DD17 school vacation, last week in Feb) on various websites. Then even Florida started going out the window looking at airfare from here during that time...but I had a couple of interesting prospects through Southwest Airlines Vacations........

So my question for you folks in that area or anyone who has visited....

have you heard of the Bilmar Beach Resort on Treasure Island...and if so what do you think? We are looking for clean, comfortable, beach location....
this place has gulf front efficiency units with 2 queen beds that are appealing to us and within the budget.....

I've never heard of it, but it is right on the Gulf of Mexico and looks nice. It's just south of St. Pete. We usually stay in Longboat Key when we go to the beach which is further south.

Sorry Ann, I was not on the computer till now!! (thanks JF for telling me to come here).

I have never been to that hotel but I have heard of it and it is always postive things. Treasure Island is a nice beach....all of our beaches in Pinellas are very nice. It is close to St Petersburg Beach and the Don Cesar (which is a well known hotel!)

Thanks Christine, and others who have replied! I did check out their website and was satisfied with what I saw, but you know how websites are! Just wanted to see if anyone had seen or heard of anything first hand!

Since the snow is still coming down here, it might be a good day to talk ourselves into booking the SWA package

No problem Ann! I dont think you would want to be strolling on the beach today though, our high is only in the LOW (almost barely) 60's. Us Floridians are freezing our you know whats off!!!

Have a sister that has stayed there twice and enjoyed both times. She loves the area and says that it is very nice and clean.
