Say it isn't so. I just picked up in another thread that IASW typically closes for its Cmas holiday overlay late OCT.

Believe it or not, that was one of Walt's "classics" I wanted to experience when we go the last week of OCT. Obviously nothing I can do about it and the timing does make sense, just. . . bummer. :(

Unfortunately it's true. IASW is closed that last week of October until the beginning of the Christmas/holiday season in mid-November.

yep they do it for the holiday overlay...i wonder if POTC will be open ..last 2 years they have been closed the entire month of Oct. and when they close so does BB...

Double-Drats!!
IASW and POTC?!? Those are two attractions everyone says are better at DLR vs DW. I'd pick a different date to visit for our 1st trip west, but unfortunately the dates are stuck due to DD-college fall break.

Maybe if I find the right email address I can convince the "powers that be" to modify their closures just for me? :lmao:

Keeping my fingers crossed nonetheless.

If I had to guess, POTC should be open since they just finished a bog reverb not too long ago. Sorry about IASW, but it does give you an excuse to come back :)

Long refurb not bog reverb autocorrect error!

i was like ok i know ALOT about DL and abbreviations but ive never heard of a bog refurb:rotfl:

 gotta love autocorrect! Makes for some great conversation starters

This bums me out. DD loves IASW. It is more than likely closing on 10/22 per Skiing Fast. Our drive in on the 22nd. :headache:

They reVERBed the bog? Did they contract the cast of Sesame Street for the work? Can't wait to see what new actions were added! :lmao:

Just kidding, gotta love autocorrect. :)

OP, sorry that IASW will be down for your trip. :sad2:

Thanks for the kind words, the closure certainly isn't going to ruin my trip, just one of those "features" I wanted to experience at DLR. Since I fall into that group in which DLR is more costly than DW, not sure when I'll get back.

Looking at the silver lining - now I won't have to bargain with the DS13 to go with me on the ride AND I won't go around the park the rest of day with that "song" in my head! :rotfl:

Curious though, isn't the Magic, Memories, and You shown on IASW? Will that also not be running while IASW is down?
Triple Drats! We LOVE MMY at DW. Couldn't wait to see it DLR! Is this holiday overlay all inside? So maybe the MMY would still take place?

Most of the overlay is on the outside, so MMY is not available.
We are still excited for our trip...a lot of new stuff to see. Plus, we are coming back in April, so the song can ring throughout my head then. :lmao:
I hope to go to WDW someday.

That closure news is a major bummer to me, too. I had planned to ride regular IASW on Oct 30, and then return on Veterans' Day weekend for IASWH. I am the only one in my party who has ever been to DLR, WDW, anything, so it would be all new to my DH and kids, and I wanted to get both versions in one trip. I had it in my head that it went down Nov 1, after H'ween season ended,
*sigh*

OP, that is a bummer when a ride you want to ride is closed. While it is one of the rides that's different from DW, you will be amazed that almost ALL of them are different to some extent. Really. There are maybe only a couple that are the same. Toy Story Midway Mania and Soarin are 2 that come to mind, but even though the rides are the same, the queues are totally different. I'm sure someone will point out a couple more the same, but for almost all rides, both the queues and the rides themselves are quite different.

My favorite ride at DL is POTC, I could ride it 2 or 3 times a day, Whereas is DW, I still love it, but once or twice a trip is good.

If it makes you feel better even though its one of the original rides they have updated it so its different than his vision... they added characters from the movies into the scenes where they take place, which is cute, but over shadows the old original parts of the ride. I like it a lot, and its fun listening to kids yell out the names as they see them, but its not original original anymore. :goodvibes

IASW is not one of the original rides. It was added around 1966 about 11 years after DL opened. Yes it was a ride heavily influenced by Walt Disney himself.

You made me smile out loud! :goodvibes I do feel better after reading your post! Have anything to made me feel better about missing Magic, Memories and You? I'm telling myself I'll appreciate not having to fret over a good viewing stop for MMY and F! and Fireworks. Now we just have to make the trek from one to the other. :p

true but you cant even compare DL IASW with wdw IASW...DL's waaaaaaaaaaay better....althought the rides are the basic same...the whole ambiance of the queue at DL is amazing especially at night....
