I have a couple of questions that hopefully an experienced DVCer at OKW would be able to answer:

1) Tennis - I know there are courts - can you rent rackets and balls? What is the charge for this? Do you have to reserve court time?

2) Boats - are there any to rent? Charges for members?

3) Bicycles - I've seen those also - does anyone know if they have helmuts and what the fees are to rent the bicycles?

Any other on-site activities I should know about? Children are ages 14, 9 and 3 (w/down syndrome)...I'm going to be there 15 nights and don't want to spend every day in the park. Also, my sister will be there to help for 6 nights and can do some activities with the older children.

Any responses would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yes is the answers to all your questions, as for the rates I do not know them. You do get a discount for renting boats. They have 4 swimming pools there. DD is not far away you can walk, take a boat or bus from OKW to DD. They have activities over there also. Have fun, 15 nights sounds great to me the kids and you should enjoy it. :sunny:

Your kids will have plenty to do. My DD is 13 and DS is 10. There are many children's activities scheduled throughout the day at the Community Hall. Make sure you ask for a schedule when you check in. Some involve a small fee to cover supplies and some are free.

If an activity requires a reservation, try to make one as soon as possible because they usually only have a small number of spots available. There foosball and ping-pong tables in the Hall as well as checkers and some board games. There are also some toys for the younger kids.

Have a great time! :sunny:

OKW only
tennis you can get rackets and balls from Hank

boats will run (as a member) $5.32 (paddle boats) to $31.41 - these prices are probably old. (nonmember) $6.10 to $35.

the bikes $6.80 to $18.68 (surrey bike)

non-member $7.51 to $21

I am pretty sure that the other DVC resorts are more expensive.

Members generally get a 10% discount. at VWL and BCV you need to ask for the discount.

With the tennis courts, it's worth remembering that there are other courts (maybe only one) around the resort it's (they are) up in the area of the #2 pool area. If you planning a time/day to play tennis I would always advise someone to book ( if it's allowed) just to avoid dissapointment, but I don't think I can remember more than a couple of times in 12 years the courts at the main pool area both being used.

There are a number of different motorized boat sizes to be rented from Water mice (seat 2, but would be a little snug for 2 average sized adults IMHO) to 10/12 seaters pontoon boats. These are available from minimum times of 30 minutes. I think the prices Spicey gave are for the minimum half hour, renting longer than 30 minutes does bring the "half hourly" rate down a little.

There are a number of other activities they run, some are charged, some are free. Basketball and pingpong I know are free to rent the equipment for members. The kids activities look a lot of fun and will keep the kids amused for a while. As has been suggested you could ask for a schedule when you check in. Not sure OKW will do this, but when visiting Vero and HH I have asked them to fax me a copy of the activities they are running at that time ( on the understanding that activities may change by the time I get there) just so I have an idea of the sort of things that they run and the likely costs involved.

I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful time

We were at OKW from 4/2 thru 4/11/05.
One of the (little bit offbeat) things we like is to play shuffleboard. It's next to the tennis courts.
One of the days they had a kid's DJ in front of the Community Hall. Lots of kids there and they seemed to be having a good time.
