I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix 3100 and have a question about the compact flash memory card. I am planning on buying a 256 MB, but I wanted to know if anyone used a different brand than what is recommended. The recommended brands are Nikon, SanDisk, Lexar Media and Hitachi. My husband works at Sam's Club and they have a "Simple Tech" brand that sells for less, but I am not sure - anyone out there buy something else?

IMO there's little difference. They've become a commodity. There are no moving parts. Any brand will work

but...

I'd think of it like film. If you always bought Kodak or Fuji then get the Lexar, Sandisk, etc. If you normally purchased generic film get the Simple Tech.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 3500. I have a Memorex, Fujifilm, and an offbrand called POI I got from Ebay really cheap. They all work fine and I don't see any difference in the pics. Hope this helps.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_110.gif' border=0></a>
