For my friends in the Northeast

Our kids coach didn't cancel practice the other night and they played in the cold. I was close to pulling him off the field. It's a fine line between teaching him dedication and risking him getting sick. The next practice they moved it indoors thankfully.

Rainy and miserable here today. Very windy too. Supposed to dry up tomorrow and we are going camping! Might be a little drizzle Saturday night and definitely not warm but still should be fun. Looking forward to the first trip of hopefully a great season!

After my post this afternoon I realized why soccer was cancelled. It started snowing. We had a lovely warm march and now we are paying for it with snow in April. Hopefully some day I'll be able to get my garden in. The way it is in Ohio though we probably won't get a spring, we will just go straight into summer.

weather calling for 10+ inches possible in the hills just a couple miles south of me this weekend. I expect 4-5 around here.

Still no grass cutting here today. It's pouring rain and cold today. No wind though which is a first this week. For some reason we've had more wind than usual. Soccer was supposed to start for the kids this weekend and three of my kids are also referees. Sadly soccer got cancelled already because of forecasted snow. The players aren't too upset but the kids that lost out on cash for refereeing are disappointing. Somedays I regret living here, we are all ready for warm weather and outdoor fun.
Freeze warning here tonight in East Tennessee with possibility of snow flurries... I still wouldn't live anywhere else except maybe Fort Wilderness! All of our trees are blooming and I suppose that might go away with the freeze. Going out today to get some pictures of the dogwoods and apple trees so I can remember them as they were. My wife's family is from Cleveland and all of their posts on Facebook r looking for spring.

Woke up this morning and had a couple inches on the ground.
On Easter it was 72 degrees, I took my 57 chevy out all day. A few people around here have cut there grass once.
Weather still calling for snow thru Sunday morning. Lowered amounts to 5-7 inches.

Jeepers Creepers I won't complain about a little cold then!

Actually the cold is whats the worst supposed to get down at night to the upper teen over weekend.
Monday back up to 50.
4-5 inches of snow is nothing around here, barely slows things down.

I agree about the cold and the snow.... The funny thing is though that even here in Northeast PA where cold and Snow are not (normally) uncommon, they even whisper that we are getting an accumulation of snow and there is a run to make French Toast. (You know, Bread, Eggs and Milk).

I always cringe when I have to go shopping at the normal interval, and it usually includes those perishable items, during such announcements. I suppose it is made a bit better by the fact that I have OTHER normal weekly grocery items. (Canned goods, cereal, meats, produce, etc..)

Ah well. Life still goes on.

Went to bed green grass.
Woke up to this.
Pic out of front door.
Its not much just annoying.

4 to 5 inches of snow here in Knoxville would close the city down for at least 2 days. I think we have 5 to 8 plows for the entire county. They normally get I40 and I75 first thing and it stays pretty much clear. Getting to them is the hard part, with all the hilly and winding roads. While my daughter was in school in Maine I visited and in 18" of snow it was no problem at all.

Only go to the store monthly, make my own bread, can veg and meats, freeze eggs and meat, can stews , soups and meatloaf. Bulk buy cereals and flours, freeze milk for drinking and use dry milk for cooking. If I'm stuck in for the duration of my food, I am doomed anyway.

I have 3 plow trucks in my driveway and a tractor with a 6 foot snowblower next to garage. Buying another 55 hp tractor this summer and adding a 84 inch snowblower to back and a 12 wide push blade in front. Just people I personal know account for 40+ plow trucks from pickups to dumps.

Wow, that is quite a snow "arsenal". Here in Tn we have 1 snow shovel. :) The county has 3 plows.

Won't you be my neighbor?!

Brought her out for the first trip of the season and a check to make sure all was working before we leave for DC next trip. They had been forecasting snow, but that ended up not happening. Was fairly cold and windy so we didn't go full blown on the setup. Ended up bringing in the awning right after this pic because of the wind. Over all, had a good time but would have been great if it were just ten degrees warmer like it should have been this time of year.

Our 2-4 inch forecast of "Accumulating Snow" was more like 2 - 4 hours of flurries with ZERO accumulation.

I still haven't put the snow blower away for the season, but I am sure if I do, it will be a blizzard.

This has been the strangest winter/spring ever, IMHO.

How will you know when to put it away? I don't think your neighbors want a blizzard in July! Better make a permanent place for it in the garage.

True. Don't need a blizzard in July. I do have a space for it in the Garage. But it's not easy to get (anything) in and out of it. It's not really a garage any more as I'd never park a car (and certainly not my truck) in it. It's "Elevated" and, well has an Old (VERY OLD) wooden floor. If I were to bring a car into it, it would probably crash through the floor. So I made it a Large shed, but I have to go up steps to get things in and out. So I swap the mower for the snow blower in the garage/shed.

It's now time (well past time) to mow my grass. I have some very large "Tufts" of grass in my back yard that need attention from a mower. If I wait too much longer, I will need a brush hog, that or I wait and harvest it for hay! :)

Now if the yard will dry up long enough for me to cut it with the mower. That way we can get the blizzard and be done with it. Right?
