? for movie buffs...National Lampoon's Vacation

I'll have to watch it ahead of time. I'm just not sure I want to have to explain exactly how one would sing Zip a dee doo dah out of one's certain body part.
That could present problems!

It is one of my favorite lines though!

This movie truly is a classic, isn't it? So many great lines. DW and I love Christmas Vacation as well.

"I'm going to have fun, you're going to have fun, we're going to have so much f$%# fun, you be whistling zippadeedoodah out of your a#$-#$#@." - chevy chase

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

"perhaps you don't want to see the second largest ball of twine on the face of the earth, which is only four short hours away?" :lmao:

Any time anyone has their feet up on the couch & they smell, we say, "Russ, Russ, your feet". :lmao:

Does anyone remember who played the Cop that pulled Clark over when the Dog expired.?:confused3 "Holiday Road ohhhh Holiday Road Ohhooohh!"

if you enjoy the movie you need to try to hunt down a copy of the original story as it was published in national lampoon. in the original version an adult russ is reminising about his childhood vacation, , but it was to disneyland. the story ends with clark shooting walt disney in the butt, and then russ saying that the best part of the vacation was getting to fly home because the police kept the station wagon as evidence.

I grew up watching it on tv, so I had never seen the original, unedited version until I was in college and one of my friends had it. Whoa! I had no idea it was so racy!

Everytime that show comes on tv my husband has to say "She was born without a tongue Clark." It never fails.

That show is one of my all time favorites.

IMO the Vacaton movies fit into the defintion of movies that never should be edited. IMO there isn't enough they could do with it to make it oK for kids. Entire scenes would need to be cut, not just the seconds of nudity or language.

If you are worried about what the kids might see, put on a different movie. Don't try and turn an R rated classic into something OK for kids. :rolleyes1

With that said, the scene with Clark trying to make a bologna sandwich sexy always make me laugh. Remember when Chevy Chase was funny? Yes, in the first couple Vacation movies. :thumbsup2

My favorite movie.

After driving off the road
Ellen: I think I broke my nose.
Rusty: I stabbed my brain.
Audrey: I just got my period.

Really, really late at night on weekends sometimes, Comedy Central shows unedited movies :rolleyes1

Love, love, love that movie, and all the vacation movies!!!

I love when he is trying to gas up the Family Truckster for the first time, and he can't figure out how to put the gas in, and he rips off the license plate and it flies across the parking lot and hits the car next to him.

So many awesome scenes!!!

"How do you use a magazine?"

My all time favorite line
Clark- "It's the biggest[Gosh Darn] hole on Earth!"
Aunt Edna-"Clark watch your mouth!"
Clark-"Make that the 2nd biggest."

What about Clark falling asleep at the wheel? I love the way the camera pans over the sleeping kids, the wife, then lands on Clark snoring away while going 70 miles per hour and then crashing into the motel parking lot. Hilarious.

We OWN the movie by the way. DH is in love with Beverly D'Angelo.

Every scene in that movie is a classic.

How come no one has mentioned Christie Brinkley yet (my brain kept thinking of Billy Joel singing Uptown Girl). I watched it on Saturday with DD. She had never seen it. She loved it.

European Vacation.....Big Ben is not on a rotary. I know, I looked for a rotary the minute I got to London.

Christmas Vacation.....two of the things I remember best involving Randy Quaid, him walking with Clark while shopping, tight pants with the bulge. The partial turtleneck underneath his sweater....whitish sweater, dark turtleneck thingy...what is it called???

We did not go all the way to cali. Instead we went from chicago to Penn. and Jersey. Every summer of my youth. 15 hours in the car!!! Cold ham sandwiches with 1/4 inch slabs of butter. Yech! And hand cut ham so it was the thick slabs with all the grissle....or pbj. Of course we had to leave at 5am to get ahead of chicago traffic and make it in one day. Mom, dad and five kids all jammed in the wagon. "Kids? DId you take your dramamine?"

I love the squeek in the car as they are driving, very authentic.

MIkeeee
