For members with multiple contracts...can transferred points be borrowed?

I have two contracts with different membership numbers. I would like to transfer points from one contract to the other and then borrow the transferred points to use in a single booking. The points I want to transfer have not been banked or borrowed. MS just told me I cannot borrow transferred points. I have heard of the rule but I thought MS has more latitude when members have multiple contracts. Has anyone actually had success doing this?

MS answered correctly. Query: do you actually have to borrow those points for the reservation (you determine whether you need to that by looking at when you will be at WDW not when you call to reserve)? If you do, your option is not to transfer but instead reserve some nights under one contract, the rest under the other (and borrow points if needed) and then have MS link the reservations.

The "latitude" MS has with transfers when a member is doing it to himself is that MS reps have been known to allow more than one transfer per use year.

Thank you for the quick responses! And thank you for clarifying what exactly the "latitude" is. Yes I have to borrow. I linked reservations for our last trip and it worked out fine but when you add the dining plan it is kind of a pain to keep track of the credits since some expire in the middle of the stay. And since you can't use multiple contracts for a single night the points don't work out right so it means I have to purchase a few one time use points. I was trying to avoid all that but for this trip I guess it will be unavoidable.

You can't transfer the points until you are in that current UY. So if MS is telling you that you can transfer the points now or at the time of the reservation, then you wouldn't need to borrow.

You can transfer the current UY plus one year. I know this because in the past I received a transfer in the next UY.

What you need to do is use the other contract to make a few nights of your trip (if you need more from that contract, transfer just the current year points that you would need).

We did this a few years ago when we booked a GV at OKW for seven nights. I have two OKW contracts (one Sept and one Dec). I needed to use the Dec current year and next year for the reservation. So I made five nights using a very small number of transferred points (current year) with the Sept contract and then the last two nights with the Dec using current and borrowed points. Then I linked the five nights with the two nights.

When I was transferring the points, I had it all written out on a sheet of paper because if it didn't happen just as I planned, it would be screwed up. Wouldn't you know the CM on the phone transferred all the Dec points, so a supervisor had to reverse the operation and only transfer the number I wanted.

Can you transfer borrowed points? Borrow first then transfer?

No, you can only transfer current year points. If they are banked or borrowed, they cannot be transferred.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I have seen it referenced either on this board or another that members with multiple contracts have been able to transfer borrowed or banked points but since that was only second hand information I wanted to find out if there was anyone out there that had actually done it. It doesn't sound like anyone has so maybe that information is erroneous.

I had 5 banked points once and they would not allow them to be transferred. The CM even checked with a supervisor to see if it could happen but it was a no go.

I know they tend to allow members wth more than one UY to have more than one transfer between their own contracts, but I think they are pretty consistent on keeping the rules of only transferring current UY points.

We ended up having to use the one time use points, but it was to add an additional night when the flights were changed on us, so in the end, it worked out.
