hey, while you girls are praying for Nikki, can y'all offer up a prayer for my mom as well? She has been feeling pretty bad lately. Fever/chills, all over body pain, and lymph nodes swollen. She's had some stomach pain as well. She also has had a spot on her arm which needed to be lanced. It looked like a staph infection or something and it grew. Then she ended up with another one. Dr thinks it all might be related.

She had an ultrasound last week of her entire abdomen and was supposed to go in this Fri for the results. I had a feeling she wouldn't make it to Fri when I saw her on Easter and she was in pain. She was hurting when my dad came home at 4:30 today...she'd been hurting for a while, even the vicodin wasn't helping. So my dad took her to the ER and she's been there ever since. They couldn't get her u/s results (I don't know why! and it angers me) so they ran bloodwork and just did a catscan. I've been keeping in touch with my dad and sister and I told him to call me no matter what time it is when he finds out the results of the catscan. If they admit her I will go see her tomorrow. I'm very worried.

Oh no Cheri! I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom! That just sounds awful! I will for sure keep her in my prayers and hope that it's something that can be solved easily and quickly so she can not be in pain any more and get out of the hospital. I know how it is to watch your Mother suffer. I went through it when my Mom had breast cancer. You just feel so helpless. I'm here for you any time, day or night!

You know, I haven't really been drinking that much because it comes right back out. And I haven't had a saline IV since Friday night. They must not be too worried about it. And your guess is as good as mine. I hope they let me go home today

Yeah I can understand why you're not drinking much but they don't have you on saline?? That's usually what they keep you on the whole time you're in the hospital. Especially if you're throwing up. I don't think that's right But what do I know? I'm not a dr.

The physician's assistant was just in here talking to me. God he's hot. And I always look so lovely when he comes in to see me.

Anyway, he said I'll probably be having a spinal tap tomorrow. There's nobody around to do them today. And if that shows that I need a revision, they'll do the surgery. He said I probably won't make my concert on Friday.

Now I'm mad!! I spent over $200 on those tickets!! I have to find some way to delay this as long as possible.

It's always nice to have a HOT dr!! My Mom's dr that did her surgery to take out her breast cancer was so hot too. He looked a LOT like Jim Carey.

Anyways, I saw you posted about the results to your ST but I don't really know what all of that means.

EVERYONE should try it. Only you have to make sure they are NOT stale. The stale ones will not work.

If you put a peep in the microwave (the chicks are my favorite kind to do it with) it will expand...so it's fun watching chicks get all fat and then you can eat them. Except I don't really eat them. I just like to watch 'em blow up. LOL

How do you know if they're stale or not? Can you tell I don't eat peeps?

Easter was nice - went to my brother's house - my SIL's extended family was there Italian/Irish quite the overwhelming group who is never on time Dinner was called for 4pm and we finally sat down at 530 DH was not happy....he was starving

It's been gloomy here too. Gloomy again today. I hate this time of year for the bummer weather.

Glad your easter was nice. I can sympathize with having to wait to eat for people to show up. My brother and his family are ALWAYS late no matter what! Even when they tell us what time they will be at my parent's house for dinner they never live up to that time that THEY set. I find it infuriating and VERY rude because they never apologize.

Had to come in to explain, since Sharky was texting me to ask me questions. I thought you guys would wanna know.

My spinal tap fluid levels were at 3. My shunt has them regulated at 180, or 18. So 3 is way low. I'm thinking they either have to turn the shunt off or take it out. Hopefully they can just turn it off. I don't want surgery.

I still have to lay flat, so I'm kind of napping off and on. I'll check in with y'all later.

And HEY, my future husband does NOT look like Howie Mandel!!

Ah okay thanks for explaining Nikki. I was confused too. So I remember you were producing too much fluid before but now there's not enough because of the shunt? I wonder what caused your fluid to go back to producing less. Either way I will pray that they won't have to do surgery.

I had to come back to see what you had to say about your momma. This sounds a lot like what my dad (well, stepdad, really) went through when they told him he had cat scratch fever. It turns out that wasn't really what he had. I'll have to see if I can find out what it really was and let you know. They ended up taking out his lymph glands and everything and it turned out he didn't need them removed. Now he gets some kind of illness every couple of years that could have been prevented had he still had his lymph glands.

Why the heck couldn't they get the ultrasound results? I hate it when hospitals are *ahem* less than efficient. I mean, it is an ultrasound, what the hell is the problem?

Don't be worried, it will be okay. We're here for you.

They took out lymph glands for cat scratch fever? I've never heard of them doing that. My Mom had cat scratch fever when she was 10 years old and all they did for her was lance it, give her a tetanus shot and antibiotics and it cleared up. That sucks that they took out those glands for no reason and now he has to deal with that illness every couple of years. Sometimes I think dr's are just idiots!

Thanks Michele. I just looked up cat scratch fever (seeing as how they recently got a kitten) and saw that many of the symptoms matched what my Mom has been experiencing. Also it said that it's predominent in kittens (as opposed to adult cats). So I figured I would call them and give them a head's up. Mom was awake and dad put me on speakerphone so she could hear. I read the description/symptoms of cat scratch fever and they were amazed. I told them it wouldn't be a bad idea to tell her doc that they recently got a new kitten. I hope they don't misdiagnose her like they did Nikki's dad but hey it's worth a shot if that's what she's got and they can make her better faster! And not run up a ton of bills testing!

No I don't think you did the wrong thing by telling them. Sometimes dr's need some direction to clue them in as to what is really wrong. I think some of them just like running tests. That's more frustrating and costly in my opinion. If they go with your theory and that's what it is then that's just a shorter time that your Mom has to suffer.

oooh, I just noticed that I am coming up close to 7,000 posts...not going to do it tonight, but maybe I'll plan to hit it tomorrow.

Did anyone else post Easter photos?? I remember seeing one with the bunny but I want to see more. I'll hopefully have ours available tomorrow or next day.

As far as me, it looks like I'll be spending yet another holiday in the hospital. Had to come in yesterday due to pain and they admitted me. Now they're telling me I'm probably going to need another surgery. This is really starting to frustrate me. My freaking hair has just started growing back from the last one.

Oh Nikki I am so sorry to hear that. You better get better quick girl as I want to see you when I get up there in May! So do what the nice doctors tell you. Let me know if you are going to need surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers that you don't and that you feel better soon

Everybody is good. We are in our what will Adam sing tonight mode. The kids are on Spring break so that is how they are using their time. I know I could find othe things to do.

Well, sent Trent to school today and lasted 30 mins before we got call from school nurse. He was coughing a lot.

She said we could keep him there until end of day, just to check him out after school

But we decided to pull him sooner and steve picked him up at 2:30 and took him to the take care clinic at Walgreen.

Turns out he has an ear infection and mild bronchitis.

Solthey gave us amoxcillin, which would help with the coughing and speed up getting rid of it

They said if he has trouble sleeping at night due to the coughin, to use benadryl

Dr said no school for 2-3 days

He did not have school on monday, as that was his lady on Easter Break and only made it half way today, so not sure if he was counted as absent or not

So, that leaves 3 days left this week

Afraid to send him back on friday, as he will be around all the other kids with their germs

So, just going to keep him home until next Monday

Stinks, but what you going to do
