And I don't mean "fine" as in wonderful! I need some ideas for a new hair style and I'm wondering what others with the same dilemma do. I'd really, really like to not have to use the blow dryer and curling iron all of the time, however, I'm willing to continue them if I could come up with a really cute style. Ideas anybody? Thanks. :(

I do my hair long (about boob length) and layered. It's kind of one of the old "Rachel" haircuts. It makes it look fuller, I think. Especially around the face. For styling, I just spritz some Aussie Scrunch Spray (it's a purple bottle and I'm too lazy to go look at it) and let it air dry. I don't even own a hair dryer!

I've gotten lazy lately. I tried the layers but I never end up liking it. So now, I have highlights which really make it fuller, and use Aveda mousse, and have it just straight all one length, a little past my shoulders. I think the Aveda products work really well with my hair too. Give them a try.

I perm mine. I got so tired of trying to do something to it that just fell out 2 hours later, so I attacked with chemicals. :)

If you've got fine hair and don't want tto do the the blow drying/curling routine then you've GOT to go all one length. I think the magazines are always recommending chin-length bobs for fine, straight hair. You will still have to blow dry to put some *lift* in the root areas, but you can avoid the curling iron. If you have layers (like I do) you really cannot get away with not doing them. It stinks, I know.

As for products, they can make or break my hair style. If I use nothing or storebought stuff, the hair just flops. I have had really good luck with Aveda Products. Right now I am using Sap Moss Styling Spray at the roots for volume. It really does a nice job. I then use some Aveda Control Paste to give it a "tousled" look. I find that if you just let it be kind of smooth, it looks more fine. The tousled, messy looks makes it look thicker.

Also, I wanted to add that highlights really help with the texture.

I have very fine hair and the only way I can wear it is in long layers. Mine is as katerkat described, only in between chin level and shoulder length.

I used to perm mine often, but that put too much stress on my hair and it didn't last long (perms only last 3-4 weeks with my hair, then it gets fuzzy looking). I just let mine grow out long (it's about 3-4 inches longer now than in the pic in my siggy). I've got layers around my face for when I want to wear my hair down. I wear the sides up most of the time. I have weird hair. It's baby fine, but very thick.

I agree that Aveda is the way to go-- I have blond hair, one length bob, and I will never use a different brand of products-- I use Blue Malva Shampoo and Conditioner as well as a teeny bit of their gel... gives enough body, and it lasts all day without your hair getting greasy and nasty.

I have the same as Snoopy. :) My stylist also uses a razor to give it texture. And I get highights. This past fall/winter I had a red/blonde (separate colors) combo in my brown hair. Looked great! :)

I have very fine hair, and the only way I can wear it is really short. Otherwise it looks stringy, really thin, and drives me absolutely crazy. I mean really short like tapered up in the back, cut over the ears, and with a little length on top. I'm trying to think of someone with that style - kind of like Demi Moore in Ghost, maybe. Except my hair is blonde. Hair this short doesn't look good on everyone, though. If body weight is an issue for someone then this might not be the most flattering hair style.

I have extremely fine hair. I like it cut in a short shag with very little difference in the length of the layers, cut with a razor. I like it stacked a bit in the back but mainly one length in the front and sides. That being said, I have shoulder length hair that I dry with a round hairbrush right now to make it all flip underneath. DH prefers long hair, and I had worn it short for quite a while. It's also easier to maintain this way. Between having a toddler and being pregnant, I don't make it to the salon often enough for a shorter cut.

I agree that highlights are a wonderful way to add body and to detract attention from the fact that your hair is limp and lifeless. If there's ever a day when I'm neither nursing or pregnant, I'll definitely get my hair highlighted.

I've always had very fine hair, and I've always worn it at least shoulder length and done absolutely nothing with it. Very boring.

But last summer I decided I was tired of boring hair so I got it cut. It's now a little bit shorter than my chin and layered, and I usually flip it out...sometimes with just a brush when I'm drying it, sometimes with a curling iron. I think I look so much better this way than when my hair was just kind of there...it also reflects my personality more, because it looks a lot more fun and perky.:teeth: It does take a lot longer to flip it out than it does to just dry it, but I still only spend about 10 minutes on my hair in the morning.

My hair is about shoulder length and layered with highlights. The highlights help to give it body - I don't know why.

I have very fine, thin hair... I've tried growing it long but like skporter's it gets stringy and just doesn't look good. So I wear it short... I guess you'd call it a bob. It's all one length in the back but stacked to give it a little body, and cut to frame my face on the sides. I usually brush it back... sort of like a short Dorothy Hamill cut. I don't think I'm explaining this very well!

I usually either highlight or color my hair, too... the coloring gives it a little more body. Plus I use Matrix Amplify shampoo and conditioner... they help add body, too.

My hair is super fine... I get highlights, which help. Right now my hair is all one length, about to my chin. I dry it straight and flip it under and tuck it behind my ears. Gets pretty boring...but I just spent a year growing really short layers out. You can see some examples of my hair on my link to my webpage....

My favorite hairstyle was one mentioned above, stacked in the back and longer on top, long enough to tuck behind an ear, no bangs.. I wish I had a pic of it. I agree with the above poster, the main reason I'm not wearing it that way now is that I've gained a little weight.

I have this type of hair too. My current look is a perm...tried the "bob" thing and it just didn't do anything for me, it just hung there looking all limp without any body.

I want to see picks of these hairstyles you guys are describing!

Where do you get these Aveeda products?

I have blonde, very fine hair. Unfortunately I have just enough curl that I have to use a curling iron after blow drying it or it looks terrible (of course my stylist can do it without the iron). I don't have enough curl to wear it that way (without a perm).

I've done highlights and they do make my hair more manageable but I would love to try these products every one is raving about!

UGH! I have thin, fine hair and, very little at that! :(

I've tried everything over the years and, I've never escaped the hair dryer and curling iron. I WISH I could.

The show Extreme Makeover tonight gave me a thought about hair extensions tho! I always felt that if I just had MORE hair, things would be easier.

I gave up on perms about 6 years ago and, now I color my hair about 3-4 times a year for the body (and color). ;) I'm hoping to someday get highlights instead as I think it's less damaging. Hate to spend $$ on my hair tho.

Like I said, UGH!

Have very fine hair also. I usually get highlights. Have layered it which I've liked. Currenlty short bob all one length. Still have to blow dry it and curl it. Can't perm it though, b/c the perm falls right out!
