And war is costly. Some say we shouldn't have been there in the first place, but a lot of the same people say why weren't those explosives monitored? It costs money and "we didn't need to be there.". I've heard some of the same people that cry "No War" say the American people aren't as safe here at home because the explosives are missing!

It sounds like people want it both ways. Protection without cost.
It can't be done.

I will be happy to address this one. I don't believe anyone has suggested the explosives that were left unguarded might be used here. The problem is that they are available to be used over there in car bombs and such, against Americans over there. Let's be realistic just for once shall we. Not guarding those explosives once we were there, is a colossal error of judgement. They did not guard them because they were short of manpower. And they were short on manpower because they absolutely refused to listen to anyone who said they would need more men. Spin and deny as they will, the administration cannot escape this fact. And that is my most serious problem with this administration. Their absolute inability to ever admit a mistake was made....ever. When Bush was asked by a reporter about any mistake he had made and he was unable to think of one, I found that to be absolutely terrifying. Others admire him for his certainty. I want someone who will question his own judgement occasionally. To refuse to do so is to believe one is infallible. And that is just way too close to a god complex for my comfort zone. And I shudder to think what these people will do if they have another four years with no re-election to work towards.

Well, faithinkarma you might not believe anyone has suggested the explosives that were left unguarded might be used here. But it's true. I don't have time right this minute to find the link, when I get the chance I will.

You want to be realistic. The "error in judgement" is a gigantic contradictory leap. You don't want to the money spent. Yet it costs to do the job right.

Sounds like you want it both ways.

Wow, I was off yesterday and I come back to find this thread has become like all the others, a place for Republicans to tell us how stupid and wrong we are.

Oh, Faithinkarma, loved your sentiment above. I think most of us here on the Kerry supporter thread feel exactly the same way. Its that refusal to admit mistakes that is so unsettling to me and all the Kerry supporters I know.

Thank you snoopy. I should have known better than to try to engage in discussion with someone who once made a really nasty remark about me because I disagreed with her. Oh....and as it turned out, she was wrong last time too..and who stepped in to prove it but Eeyore1954. Whatever happened to him anyway?

Any Red Sox fans here? I know cranky is from New England, any others? If so, you gotta read this article, its really powerful:

The Red Sox and Liberals

My apologies if this was already posted and I missed it in my absence yesterday.

OK, this might be an ignorant question as I don't pretend to know anything about explosives but couldn't they have just blown these up if they couldn't guard them? I realize we're talking about a large amount but I'd think it could be done in a short amount of time with little danger to our troops or allies. I thought that was one of the usual methods used when weapons such as this could fall into "the wrong hands". Or maybe I've watched too many war movies...

Hi guys I have a funny story.:D

Last night my motorcycle riding, tough-guy, beer swigging neighbor was out in the dark hammering stakes into his front yard. I peeked out from the blinds wondering if he is planning on burning a cross for Halloween or something lol! He is a little strange! Well, he ended up putting up the hugest "Vote Kerry" sign I have ever seen! It looks pretty cool! :sunny:

So, I hope that everyone has a great weekend!:sunny:

Well, I'm not sure I can speak for what gets posted here, but I can tell you that every Bush supporter I know is not happy with his spending.

It certainly is hard to keep up with this thread so I apologize if it has already been mentioned but did anyone see Zogby on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night??!!

Zogby (the pollster himself) is calling the election for John Kerry!!

I've heard people blame him for no funding for "No Child Left Behind". It's not true. He has funded the program. An increase of 34% since it was signed into law 2 years ago.

I know, I know...don't feed them, and I do apologize, but I'm really tired of hearing this one.

Bush supporters quote a sound bite they've been fed and believe it without question.

Whether your percentage is right or not, let's just assume for sake of argument that it is.

So what! Big Deal! Do you have any clue at all what it will cost to implement the requirements of NCLB? Conservative estimates say that NCLB implementations will cost an additional 148 billion. Bush’s increase in the budget for education for ‘03? 1 billion.... only 147 billion short...

So, no! Bush is lying when he says NCLB is fully funded. It isn’t, no matter how nice a 34% increase sounds in a 10 second sound bite.

I see the effects of attempting to implement NCLB everyday. Anyone who actually deals with it knows what damage it's doing.

And now....Please go back to the Bush thread and tell them how mean and rude we are here. No one is over there debating with them and it would be nice if the right would do us the same favor.

Nobody trashed you thus far peachgirl.

One more and I promise I won't answer them anymore...

"Trashed me?"...Depends on your definition I suppose.

I got snide remarks and veiled insults....You know the "I've got someone on ignore and I'm not going to tell you, but let me tell you enough so that you'll know exactly who it is".

I certainly don't care whose ignore list I'm on, but the point is, what they're attempting to do is to show just how vile and offensive they believe me to be and do it in a way that they think is cute and sneaky.

I'll just tell you, I think the Bush thread has the most hypocritical bunch of people I've ever seen in my life. Virtually every post includes some little snide remark or insult about this thread or someone on this thread and then goes on to talk about what great people they are because they haven't sunk to our level.

And now, my fellow Kerry supporters, you have my solemn vow to stop reading the Bush thread and to not respond to another right winger who comes over here to trash this thread....:)

Good for you. I know it's tough since I'm working very hard to do the same myself. It's not easy to ignore some of the more blatant posts but it feels so much better to not be banging my head against the brick wall of obtuseness.

Someone just made a very interesting observation about the election. Most of the people who are voting for Bush because they believe he will protect them from further terrorist attacks live in areas that have little likelihood of being attacked. Whereas the Kerry supporters live in the big cities and the populated east coast states that are prime targets.

No country music fan here, but I like this one LOL And my sister in Tennessee loved it.
