I'd offer them some cheese to go with their whine but I'm not feeling magnanimous.

No, no...save that cheese for hungry voters that need persuasion but don't like pizza, aren't into cocaine and don't care about the condition of their underwear!!!:)

Let them eat cheese!!!:)

Ah, I love this thread.....::yes:: :rotfl:

Wow, I go away for less than 2 days and see almost 10 pages of posts have been added. This was the first thread I opened after starting up my PC when we got home. Now that I'm caught up, I have to say that I am feeling some pride in the responses given to the "infiltrators'" posts.

Now, time to see what else I've missed...

we've missed you LisaZoe. Hope you had a good weekend. :)

I would love to go up to Boston and stay in a hotel around Copley, but I have a feeling it is going to be hard to get a room!

"What John Kerry Will Do as President

John Kerry has been around the block enough to understand what needs to be done. He fights for what's right, and he persists no matter how tough the challenge. He's also a firm believer in pursuing what works. So it's no surprise that his plan for a Kerry-Edwards administration is full of common sense and practical steps that address our most critical issues.

-- America's international relations are damaged beyond what the Bush administration could ever repair. John Kerry understands how serious this is, and on the day he takes office, he'll be on the phone beginning to rebuild our key global relationships -- in order to fully involve all our allies in the fight against the terrorists.

-- A Kerry administration will use the range of all weapons to defeat the terrorists. He will exert the might of our military, and he will also use the full power of diplomacy, our intelligence system, our financial and economic leverage, and the strong appeal of our values and ideas.

-- During the past two years under George Bush, the U.S. has increased its oil imports by a staggering 10%. John Kerry will free America from its dependence on Mideast oil by launching a national initiative to fully develop innovative technologies and alternative energy sources. America invented the automobile, the airplane, the telephone, and the computer. We have explored the moon and beyond. Our next round of innovation won't be a trip to Mars -- rather, we will harness America's ingenuity to develop and use energy more wisely here on Earth.

-- After four years of job-killing policies and a budget-busting federal deficit ($422 billion) under George Bush, John Kerry will stop tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. The savings will go to reduce the corporate tax rate by 5%, cutting taxes for 99% of American businesses. In addition, the Kerry-Edwards plan will preserve tax cuts for 98% of all Americans -- while ending Bush's Paris Hilton subsidy, which hands over 33% of the tax payoff to the top 1%.

-- A Kerry administration will do the right thing for our neediest children. The plan is to pick up the full cost of the more than 20 million children enrolled in Medicaid. In exchange, states will expand eligibility for children's health coverage and low-income adults and enroll every child automatically.

-- Healthcare poses some big challenges, but the Kerry-Edwards team will work to give every American access to the same kind of plans that are available to members of Congress. Their plan is to lower family premiums by up to $1,000 a year, cut waste from the system, lower the cost of prescription drugs to provide real relief to seniors, and use targeted tax cuts to extend affordable, high-quality coverage to 95% of Americans, including every child.

-- To engage young people in strengthening America, John Kerry will launch a "Service for College" initiative. Young adults who serve for two years in one of America's most important jobs (teachers, law-enforcement personnel, daycare professionals, tutors, etc.) will receive four years of tuition at a public university. Over a decade, the initiative will make college affordable for 200,000 people while strengthening our national values of service and unity.

-- Kerry will shine the light of day into the inner workings of government -- so those secret meetings, like the Cheney meetings to decide energy policy, will finally be over. He will reinstate the five-year ban on lobbying so that government officials -- like Bush's former campaign manager and FEMA director -- cannot cash in the moment they leave government service. He will require that every meeting with a lobbyist be made public.

-- John Kerry will NOT let the extreme far-right think tanks make any more decisions and control the future of our Social Security, Medicare, Homeland Security, and international relations. And he will NOT take huge gambles that drain our budget, damage our economy, and jeopardize our security."

Good night all. I trust everyone had a great weekend. Just think, the election is a week from Tuesday. Let's hope the results are not "up in the air" too long.

;)

LisaZoe, I am appalled that you would take pride in someone being told to slither back to the cesspool they came from, and to call Bush supporters who've visited this thread "infiltrators"?? Is this the example you would want to set for your daughter, who, by the way, is adorable.

Get off your self righteous high horse...

Let's see how the bushies treated dem's who dared to venture onto "their" thread......

Couldn't even stay away from a "For Bush supporters", thread, huh? Talk about weak

It shows a great lack of discipline

I'm telling you - use that ignore feature and no worries.

this is supposed to be 'our' thread

no Bush supporter has gone into that thread and bugged you guys; we've been biting our tongues

And this is the thread that has gone on for pages about how "mean" we are to those who come over here.....

Bush said it is "up in the air" whether the nation can ever be fully safe from another terror attack and suggested terrorists may still be contemplating ways to disrupt the election.

Look at it this way...At least it's a step up from Bush saying that the war on terror couldn't be won!

Really you've got some nerve imploying that LisaZoe is a bad mother becuase she doesn't like the Bush Supporters coming into this thread. Is that the kind of example that you want to set for your children?

peachgirl, I don't think being mannerly constitutes being on a "high horse". I just can't fathom how someone could take pride in comments such as the one I mentioned. It is ALOT scary to me, and reminds me of a mob mentality. My husband is a die-hard Democrat, and we disagree on many issues, but I would never talk to him the way people here on this board are speaking to each other, and I hope he wouldn't speak to me that way either. It's just a sad state of affairs to see our country divided the way it is. I realize that many people don't agree with President Bush's actions over the last four years, and they get to voice that disagreement by not voting for him, but the bottom line is that he is OUR President, and I feel that he deserves some respect for that alone, IMHO. Anyway, that is not the point I want to make. We are all Americans, and we should respect each other's opinions. There is no need for the hateful comments coming from either side. Whatever happened to tolerance? My best friend is a Democrat, she will always be my best friend. I respect her opinions and she respects mine. If John Kerry is elected, whether I agree with his policies or not, I'll still show him the respect he will deserve as our President. I think it is in our country's best interest that we show a "United" front, not a divided one.

Ummmm, when I read Lisazoe's comment I didn't remember a cespool comment, maybe it slipped her mind too.

You are being highly judgemental of her and to determine what type of mother a person is based on their board postings...

Ugh!

We are all Americans, and we should respect each other's opinions. There is no need for the hateful comments coming from either side.

Then why aren't you over on the Bush thread accusing them of setting bad examples for their children? A quick read will give you page after page of name calling just as mean and insulting as you'll find here, if not more so.

I'm sorry, but I find it disingenuous when someone only wants to call foul for one side.

I think it is in our country's best interest that we show a "United" front, not a divided one.

It would be nice if we could. But when I see a President who takes the death of Americans...soldiers...many of them barely out of their teens and some still teenagers for God's sake....as fodder for his jokes, I won't support him and I won't show him respect.

Loyalty is great, blind loyalty is dangerous.

septbride, I didn't imply that LisaZoe was a bad mother. That couldn't be farther from the truth. I just think that is it scary that we could get so caught up in all this election hype that we speak before we think. Would you want your child to tell another child to slither back to a cesspool? This is how predjudice is perpetuated, our children have huge eyes and ears. I absolutely do not believe LisaZoe would take pride in that comment. In fact, I'll bet she didn't even read that one or she wouldn't have said that. Do you take pride in that comment? Is this what we have all become?

Theresa then why did you even pass that judgement on her?

OK, so LisaZoe didn't make the cesspool comment, and yet she gets the angry comment? Why not direct it toward the person who posted it, if you're that angry?

As for the term "infiltrator," if you go back and read this thread you will see the context in which it is being used. There is a tone of humor in these posts that you might not be aware of if you've only read the last few pages.

I honestly haven't seen hateful things posted on the Bush thread. Maybe I missed them, and if I have, I apologize, but some of the comments I've read here jumped out at me. It makes me very sad that we can't all respectfully disagree. I guess people are so passionate for both sides that it is getting out of control. I know in our household it can very easily get out of control, so my husband and I have to walk a very fine line. The reason I like to read your thread too is because I am interested in everyone's opinion. I think no matter what I say here will be misinterpreted or misread, so I guess I should just sign off and get back to paying bills like I was doing. Sorry for butting in.

I just wanted to add one more thing. I too spoke before I thought. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that LisaZoe most likely did not realize the cesspool comment was mentioned. So, I apologize for assuming that she did. You know what "assume" means, LOL.
