Here is a link to an article about Bush and his faith, as well as info. about how he conducts White House business.

www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazine/17BUSH.html

I know there is another thread that discusses this article exclusively, but I thought some of you may have missed it.

I'm not trying to attack Bush for his religion. I myself am a Christian, but I don't understand why the religious right is so behind Bush. He started a war that has killed thousands. Yes, the 1,000 Americans are sad enough, but also thousands of civilians have been killed. On the other hand, he aligns himself with the rich. Doesn't the Bible talk a lot about these two things--greed and murder? I'm praying that John Kerry will become our leader and put the country back on track.

Just a few observations...

Pretty accurate observations as far as I'm concerned.

Edited to add...

Wow! I just did a quick read on that thread......they really are getting upset, poor things!

Blech. I responded to the "why we feel so passionate about W" thread. I promised myself I would stay on this uplifting Kerry thread today and everyday until the election is over. Someone throw me an anchor? :p

(and gotta echo the others -- LisaZoe, your daughter is a darling princess and a nice reason to open this thread! :) )

Honestly, I find the disparity of the threads both amusing and very illustrative of the differences between the two camps.

While we're all having fun, let's not lose sight of what has happened.

We've separated because of politics.

We've stopped talking to each other because of politics.

This is symptomatic of what's going on all over this country, and we're on a dangerous course. This election will solve nothing to heal the divisions in this country. If anything, this election is going to be even more of a disaster than 2000, only this time, there's no one in the middle to give the parties the benefit of the doubt.

We've been manipulated by both parties to demonize the other one just so those parties can stay in power. Talk radio is nothing more than the political propaganda instrument to keep that demonization alive and growing. We've had 10 years of this and the divisions are deep and growing deeper.

We've had this happen in our history before where those in power used that power to create divisions so they could keep their power. It's called The Civil War and I really believe we're headed straight for it again.

I think we should strive to avoid an us v/s them attitude on our thread. I really don't give a rat's behind what they say or think about Bush, Kerry or even us. They have their thread. We have ours. I would rather we keep our eyes on the prize.

I second....and remember fellow Democrats only eleven more days:) :) :)

I'm sooo looking forward to the end of this election. No matter who wins (go Kerry!) I hope we can get past all this partisan rancor.

Me too! I just pray that we have a "real" winner this time and not a repeat of 2000. That would just fuel even more fire into that rancor and national divide and could lead right into ThAnswr's prediction of a civil war.

i know people don'tw ant to make it into us vs. them, but i just read part of that thread and some of the things they are saying about us are very upsetting to me. :(

Oh, thanks for the T-Shirt link. My friend just ordered a "Lick Bush" T-shirt and two "Anyone But Bush" shirts for some friends of his.

LisaZoe,
I have to agree. Your daughter is absolutely beautiful and definitely "owns" that dress. She looks like she belongs in a castle with closets of stunning gowns and gorgeous jewels :D

I have decided that I don't care what the other side's opinion of me and my intelligence is. If they are so closed minded and insecure in themselves and their political choices that they have to attack other people for who they vote for, then that's their problem and I pity them.

Don't be sad caity, this is the happy pro-Kerry thread. My husband has been knocking on doors for the Kerry campaign every day for the last two weeks. He only had more people supporting Bush than Kerry on one day (he was in a very affluent neighborhood). The other days, he encountered decidedly more pro-Kerry people. I think it's just the waiting that's making everyone so tense. We should have had the debates then immediately voted, so we didn't have to anticipate the election so much. Kerry will win.

Remember the polls are of likely voters, but voter registration is up so much, that people who have never voted before are casting their ballots. Many of these people are the poor and disenfranchised. My husband was recently in a very poor neighborhood and asked someone if they were voting for Kerry. The lady said she couldn't walk down the street without someone asking her that question, of course she was.

LisaZoe, your daughter is gorgeous and where did you find that stunning dress? I have four nieces who will be going to Disney with us for a Grand Gathering in February who all need princess dresses.

"I am not enamored with John Kerry, but I am frightened to death of George Bush."

My sentiments EXACTLY.

Both parties are already involved in how to send this election into the courts. Now, we can sit by and hope each party does the right thing for the good of this country. I, being a cynic, believe we'll see pigs fly out of someone's butt before that happens.

So, we have a decision to make. Are we going to let the parties take this country on another partisan wild goose chase or are we going to do something about it now.

I say we do something now and here's a good place to start:

http://democrats.com/elandslide/index.cfm?campaign=recount

I don't care which side of the political aisle someone is on. Our democracy is too important to let the political parties control it because they are not looking out for our interests, but their own. We cannot continue to have contested elections in this country and expect the citizens to continue to respect the single greatest power the citizen has, the integrity of their vote. Without that, we're sliding towards that civil war.

I understand this is a happy Kerry thread. But, a Kerry victory wil be meaningless if we go through another debacle like the 2000 election. We can sit here and hope for the best (good luck) or we can put real meaning into the words "We the people".

All smiles here this morning! The Cardinals won the pennant and Senator Kerry was on tv when I woke up. It's all good!

I loved seeing/hearing John Mellencamp this morning on the Today Show supporting Kerry/Edwards!!

woohoo!::yes::
