Well, it looks like we're not gettng SWA for our next trip (We'll ahev to look somewhere else). However, we waited until now for tix b//c we were hoping on SWA. I'm going back to Disney Feb 2006 so can any1 let me know what airlines traditionally have the best rates and what discount sites will give me the best rates? Also when do February rates usually come out?

Where are you flying from? We flew from DC in Feb. 2003 (2/13-2/20) and got a good rate on US Airways, though not sure if they'll be around in 2006. We originally booked SWA out of BWI on a fully refundable ticket. Then we cancelled that when the USAirways rates came out cause they were a lot cheaper.

Most of the Legacy carriers (the old airlines) release their fares 331 days ahead fo time, to to get FF tix or to lock in the initial rates, call then (and at midnight). JetBlue is on a different schedule, and I seem to recall they released fares mid-summer. We fly out of Boston, so I expect unless we are using FF miles, we'll wait until JetBlue comes out for February 2006.

PS, on the transportation board, folks are more likely to be able to help you if you have a hometwon, or at least home state, in your User CP. I seem to recall you asking about either Bradley or Manchester, so I am assuming you're maybe in the upper Connecticut valley, perhaps near Brattleboro or White River Junction?

I am guessing coming from Long Island, yeah, you could take your chances on SouthWest, but you might just be better off doing Song at 331 days, or JetBlue when their rates come out, and I'd lean toward the latter for a good deal.

Remember, these February vacation seats from the Northern States to Florida on the convenient days of February break are all going to sell, and probably at full price, or close to it. With these dates, they are most likely to offer the best deals early, so they get to hold onto your money (aka Working Capital) for a longer spell. And those deals are not gonna be any $99 each way either; we'll be lucky to get them for under $300 r-t if the economy is decent.

Then again, the country may elect Bush and his idiot economic planners:( (well, "planners" doesn't really cover it either), and we might well be in a another recession by then, so the airlines would need to discount again. :p
