For Frequent Visitors, how many MB's do you now have?

To me this is so environmentally wasteful. You are supposed to reuse them, no? I don't understand why you would "collect" them. What are you doing with the after? I can see maybe wanting two different colors but its just crazy to think people are hoarding bands just cause. Give it a year, the new issue will be that people cant get bands in time because someone who has a functioning band wants a new one. then people will complain when they start charging for bands.

I have 3 sets of 4 each.

They are all interchangeable, for anyone curious. Your tickets and reservations are not linked to any specific band. The band is the means to communicate with the MDE website, which is where your information is stored.

We're "collecting" them because Disney is choosing to send a new set each time. It's not our choice right now. You get a new set with each separate reservation whether you want one or not. Complain to Disney if you don't like it.

But thanks for passing judgement on us all accusing us of being wasteful and MB "hoarders".... that's a good one by the way.

I started refusing MBs after hitting 10 for me and another 8 for my son. I don't let them ship anymore, but they're still there waiting for me at check-in, so I have to explain each time that I have plenty and don't need more. You'd think they'd be used to this by now.

The CM was mistaken. MB's can easily be reused. There is no data entry/retrieval issue at all. All a MB does is provide a link to your data on the WDW central computer system. You can manage your MB's on the MDE website. We've used an assortment of MB's and RFID enabled AP's interchangeably on our visits.

::yes:: I just grab a MB from the pile in my closet and go - I have no idea which MB went with which resort reservation anymore, lol!

Our family of four has 12 (3 each) and would have had four more but on our hotel check in, we refused to take them and were told that they would be recycled.

No, you can tell them you don't want them.

I've got one that I've been using and have for the past 3 stays IF you don't customize your MB on your MDE site then they won't send you new ones They will just have the gray ones at check-in that they will give you OR you can just nicely refuse it Personal choice I guess I have no desire to collect them but to each his/her own Since as another poster said the battery lasts about 2 years I will continue to use this one until it dies

I suspect in this case "recycled" meant simply that they would use them for some other guest. I doubt they are taking perfectly good, unused magic bands and somehow disassembling/recycling them.

Yes you are right I have a friend that works front desk at one of the resorts and that is exactly what happens The MB just stays in its box until another guest needs one :thumbsup2

I am paying for these. If Disney wants to give me a price break for recycling I am all for it. Until
Then I get to hosted.

Of our four stays since this started, we have just one set! We use the same bands at check in each time. I do book rooms last minute though. No time for them to be shipped here. I've never been offered grey bands at check in either.

I have 3. We are a family of 4 so in total we have 12+1 more that my mom got because hers didn't work, so they gave her a replacement grey one.

Who is hoarding/collecting them "just because"?

Since I don't like the yellow being offered, the next time we go (the closest trip would be Oct/Nov, but I'm not even sure we'll do that...we were pretty stinkin' annoyed at WDW last month...problem since we own DVC LOL) I won't customize one for myself. Not sure if hubby and son have all the colors they want.

Right now they are sending them for each reservation. This won't last forever.

You can recycle the box that the MBs come in as well. Not too sure about the foam, but definitely the box.

I've been calling Disney and trying to get them to get the word out that you CAN do this to the MBs, but I think they are counting on the MBs to be a super collectible item and souvenir from your vacation and they are missing the main point of who wants to have 10 mbs laying around? Much like the mugs - I've got 7+, certainly don't need anymore!

There was no foam in my MB box, just cardboard. There was foam in the flash drive box, but not my MB box.

I personally think they meant them for "fashion", but not collecting. They already had people collecting KTTW for scrapbooking.

And who knows why they don't let us reset the RFID chips in mugs? (actually my cousins were told they could pay and reset them on a future trip) I don't think it's a collectible thing (even disney can't be that silly, LOL).

I'm just waiting for Disney to start making them with a little digital time display below the Mickey head...

So very much YES.
