We are going to WDW in a few weeks, and I was wondering what you parents did when taking an infant that doesn't yet sit into the restraunt. We are going to be Me, my DS 4, my DD 20 months, my friend Amanda and her DS 6 months. She wants to know what ideas you have about what she should do with her DS when she is trying to eat at a TS that doesn't allow strollers. If that makes any sense :rotfl2: Any ideas are appreciated, TIA!!!

We went to Disney when my dd was 10 months old. We took her stroller in everywhere we went, but the Cinderella dinner ( she used a high chair ). All the sit down places have high chairs ( I think ). So, you should be fine. I would call ahead and ask CS if they would have something available for the baby if a stroller was not allowed. Some one else may have some better idea's.

I just don't understand why anyone would bring an infant to WDW. :confused3
I can only guess that it's because they get in free?
Puttin' on my suit! :firefight

I took my dd to Disney because she is so full of life and has always loved everything about life. She was 10 months old at the time. The way children learn about life is through experience. I want my child to live life to the fullest. I have taken my dd to Disney ever year since birth. She will be three next month and loves Disney and any other trip we take her on. She has flown more times than most children or adults will ever fly in a lifetime. She is very mature for her age, and I think it is because of all the different things and places her brain has soaked in.

When she was 10 months old, she loved the lights, colors, MUSIC, and everything else about Disney. Just think how magical it would be to see Disney through the eyes of a child. I never got to. My family was not able to take me as a child, and that is why I want my child to travel. I want her to see her world, and learn from it.

Even though she does not remember her first trip to Disney, she will get to see how much she loved it. Through pictures and video.

And last year she was 26 months old when she went, and remembers almost everything about the trip. Her dinner with Cinderella, Going to see Buzz lightyear, riding spaceship earth ( the giant golf ball-- what she calls it ) and on and on. She also loves to fly. The first time I flew, I was an adult. I was so scared and afraid. I hope that flying at a young age will help her to never be afraid to fly. I still get nervous at the airport, but my child is --- Yeah Yeah, come on mommy lets go.... I wish I could be that brave!!!!!

Anyway, I think it is awesome for parents to take their babies to Disney or anywhere else for that matter... It shows that they are really into their family, and Lord knows now days that is really important!!!

God Bless you all and keep those babies going to DISNEY!

We traveled with my then 5 month old last September. Most sit down restaurants have the high chairs with built in infant carrier type seats. We brought our own beach towel and put it in the seat first and then he was able to sit in the seat at the same height as us.

We loved bringing our infant to WDW! The pictures of him smiling at all the characters are priceless. Granted he doesn't remember one iota from our trip, but I'm sure he'll appreciate the pictures later on when he can enjoy them. And since we plan to visit the world as often as we can, why not start them when they're young?! :)

Thank you for the info! For these seats, did you mean that you had to have your own infant carrier, or the restraunt had the whole seat there for you to use? We will not be bringing the carrier into the parks with us so I hope they have everything we need at the restraunt.

On another note, my son is now 4 and he watches the short video of his first trip to WDW when he was 5 mo and he loves it! He also loves looking at the pictures, so your DS will have a wonderful memory to look at when he is older. I know my DS loves it! TIA for the extra info.

Just hold them on your lap? :confused3 None of my babies really enjoyed sitting in strollers or high chairs or be carried around in infant car seats. I have taken infants to Disney twice and each time I found a baby carrier to be a necessity. We are getting ready to go with our 12 month old next week and we are taking a backpack to carry him in. He will sit in a high chair or we will hold him while we eat (DH and I take turns).

I saw a Dad at Disney last year carrying his baby around in an infant car seat. The baby looked to be about 7-8 mos old? Every ride he got on, he just plopped the kid in his lap in the car seat. I thought it looked a bit strange :guilty: Some people seem to have an aversion to holding their children....they get a bit used to having all these contraptions to plop their babies into so their hands will be free. I prefer to hold my babies, and they preferred to be held also :goodvibes

As to the person who made the comment about taking the infant to WDW--there are many reasons people take infants to WDW. Perhaps they have older siblings who would enjoy the trip, or the parents really want to go. Should parents be shackled and chained at home just because they have an infant? :confused3 Most babies travel well, and yes, the fact that they don't have to pay admission is a bonus :rotfl:

We started taking DS (now 2) when he was 5 weeks old. As others have mentioned - the easiest thing is to bring in the infant carrier and set it up in the seat (usually they flip over a highchair and it fits on the other side). We also used a Snugly alot. We often just ate while we held him in that. You have to turn your head a bit so as not to spill on him - and watch out for little hands that try to grab your fork/spoon... :rotfl: Enjoy and go with the flow - it's amazing how excited little ones get at all these new surroundings. I know he doesn't remember his first trip, but I do, and I know how much he enjoyed it! Hope you have a great time!!! :goodvibes

we went when my twins were 17 months old an the baby was 8 weeks...

the twins obviously sat in chairs or highchairs

the baby either was held by an adult or worn in a sling :)

Title of the post is "?? for families that have taken infants to WDW" Not "should I take my infant to WDW." OP is not looking for advice or commoents on if they should bring thier child, they are. :flower:

When our DD was 7 months old she was sitting very well. My freinds son was 6 months old and could not sit in high chairs. They used the infant carrier in the stroller and brought it into the resturants. Their son was more comfortable in it. However they always seemed to hold him during dinner if he was awake. Not my idea of fun. The highchairs with the infant part sounds good to me.

I have found the only place that won't allow the stroller in it with a sleeping child is the land (Garden Grill) since you can't bring one in the pavilon for any reason. Event he castle let us bring our DD in the stroller since she was alseep. We took it back downstairs when she woke up. This isn't as easy with a big or double stroller.

Good luck and have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Maybe it's because that's their idea of a fun family vacation... We will be using our infant car seat for our trip next may. If the baby is six months old for your trip, you should be able to just bring that or at that age he may do well with a receiving blanket or two propping him up in the high chair. Or someone will just have to hold him, I'm sure noone wants to do that though ;) Have a great trip!

ETA- We were allowed to bring our small stroller into Nine Dragons in May this year since our son was alseep.

Why bother writing that? Are you just looking for attention?

We have taken our infants to WDW several times and would NEVER trade those experiences for anything!

We were at WDW this past April with dd 6mos. All the table service restaurants we went to had infant carrier type seats for babies. They had regular high chairs too. The infant carrier type was a reclining seat, already attached to a base, so you don't need your carrier. It was great for when dd was asleep when we arrived!! She didn't necessarily want to stay in it the whole meal, but it gave us enough time to eat for the most part. Some places would let you bring the stroller in. At counter service places, she stayed in the stroller or we held her.

I hope this helps! DD loved Disney- we are going again next week and I am curious to see how her reaction has changed now that she is a year old!!

took dd on her 1st trip at 4 months. she obviously couldn't sit up. i used a sling! i find my pouch sling to be a godsend at disney! i wear it in restaurants and especially in LINES! keeps me handsfree to wrangle my 3yr old :)

my dd is just 1 now and i still use it all the time. we leave tomorrow and it's in my diaper backpack. i have one from here. simple to use, easy to stuff in a bag www.hotslings.com .

Thank you for all your ideas :flower: We will go and hope for the best. We will end up taking turns holding him if he won't sit in any high chair, I guess that is just a standard for all parents though :rotfl:

If the child is young enough they may allow the stroller into the restaurant. There were several times that we took the infant carrier in and the greeters asked if we wanted to bring the stroller in to hold it. I wouldn't count on it happening all the time but it is a possibility.

Some of the places won't let you take a stroller in because of fire laws. We got around this by eating on off times. With fewer people in the dining rooms we were allowed to take our stroller in everywhere. Bongos gave us a bit of trouble but ended up giving us a table near a window and the stroller was no big deal, being in a corner. There is no way we have been allowed at a "normal" meal-time.

My husband and I had been married 10 years before our beautiful son was born. We went to WDW every year we were married, and now that we have a son we are going to stop going to WDW? This doesn't make sense to me. Walt created the place for families!
