For discussion..are there enough restaurants?

I do feel for the people that don't know about adrs..to a certain point.i would never invvest several hundreds of dollars or more on a trip that I did not research and get a guidebook for.Only argument is the guidebooks need to change the wording from reservations suggested to, reservations required.Heck, I live lessthan 2 hrs from NYC and bought a guidebook before i went.Try getting into major dining venues around the US and world without reservations.If you research any major purchase, like a tv or washer/dryer, why would you not invest the same amount of time researching a vacation.Even a themepark vacation.

Reservations are not always technically required at WDW. The problem WDW has is that they permit reservations to be made a long time in advance, and the popular restaurants get booked up early. I still wouldn't say it's a requirement to have reservations for, say, Olivia's or the Turf Club in a non-holiday period.

Although I'm aware that when many visitors talk about this, the underlying interest is in eating inside a theme park. They don't want to leave the theme parks for the resorts to eat, whether the resorts are close by or not. In recent years, with the parks more crowded and the dining plan heightening interest in the table service restaurants, it has been more difficult to walk into a theme park restaurant at a peak mealtime, or anytime during peak seasons.

(As I recall, aside from a few extremely popular places, and major holidays, one could pretty much walk into anything prior to the advent of the dining plan)

At the busy times of year, no, but we are usually there in May and other than some of the most popular resturants, they are taking walk ups and sometimes have empty seats. I would much rather see them improve the poor resturants they have now rather than build more.
