I grind our coffee here every morning, (favorite, after trying MANY, is Starbucks Gold Coast blend). While the coffee is grinding (I use a burr grinder), I will often munch on a few beans, such great coffee flavor.

Does anybody else eat a few beans while grinding their morning coffee?

And how many of us here grind our coffee each morning?

Yup! I face 'the grind'(er) Every morning!

Unless (of course) we're having coffee from WDW! :)

Ya just can't beat the taste (and smell) from freshly ground coffee!

{Dan...you can also grind some beans really coursely...then, put them in the freezer....makes a great tasty and attractive "sprinkle" on top of desserts}

I'm sure the taste is fantasic, but I don't grind the beans.

Have you ever had chocolate covered coffee beans? Yummm! :D

Well that explains the caffeine buzz you all are on! :)

And it explains how Dan has so much energy to DIS from dawn to dusk! ;)

Hi Dan,

Yes, we grind our coffee as we make it. We've been using a mix of two scoops of Millstone Vanilla Nut Creme and two scoops of Millstone Hazelnut.

I only became a coffee drinker a few years ago. Helps with headaches sometimes for me. But now, I've grown to enjoy it. My DH drinks it constantly all day long, right up until he goes to bed!

P.S. I LOVE the coffee on the Disney Cruise Line. They tell me it's frozen in liquid form (Columbian) and even though it's not fresh brewed, somehow I really enjoy the taste!

I love those chocolate covered coffee beans, but have never crunched on any non-chocolate-covered ones! I agree that there's nothing like fresh-ground coffee, though. We have a coffee machine that includes a grinder, so you just put the whole beans in the machine, and it grinds and brews for you! Perfect for a lazy-bones like me! (We set the machine up at night and set the timer, so we wake up to the sound of the grinder and the smell of fresh-brewed coffee! Yum!)

Don't grind every day, but do on the weekends. (if it's just the two of us, I french press, but if it's more than I'll dig out the coffee maker). I love Veritas coffee. It's so fresh. And their cinnamon spice is heavenly (even their decaf is good).

I am a grinder myself.

Our favorite is Texas Turtle from Cost Plus/World market. A close second is Creme Brulee from Super Target.

I have not eaten beans though. I think I will try this.

Decaf Coffee -- a true oxymoron in our book!;)

Longing for the good old days. I used to grind my own beans. My buddies and I even used distilled water at the ideal temperature to extract just the oils and none of the bitterness from the bean.

Now I go to the grocery store and buy 8 O'Clock coffee and grind it in the store's grinder. I have descended into coffee mediocrity.

I've never really enjoyed munching on coffee beans all that much, even when covered in chocolate. And I really dislike flavored coffee beans. I prefer a light city roasted coffee bean from South America or Jamaica or Hawaii. But now I'm too cheap to buy the good stuff.

Right now, Starbucks Colombian beans are my favorite. I'll have to give the Gold Coast a shot.

Ummmm... the beans covered in dark, bitter chocolate are great to munch on!!! But you have to be careful, or you'll get a tremendous buzz from them.

I grind when I make coffee either Dunkin Donuts, Starbuks or Gevalia

I'm a grinder!!

Actually, my coffee maker does the grinding for me... (Thank you Cuisinart!!) ... Green Mtn or Dunkin Donuts beans for me. YUM.. But now you have me wanting to munch on coffee beans in the morning!! That'll definitely help my addiction!! (ahhaa.. ok no it won't..) :)

FOJMO that's our blend too! I really like grinding my own beans just makes the coffee taste better!!

I sometimes will grind the coffee the night before (I am always rushed in the morning) but lately I don't seem to remember to do that so I just grind it right before I make it. I honestly haven't eaten a bean in a very long time though. I hadn't thought to do that while grinding them (I am usually not awake enough to think ;)) I think I'll have to try one tonight or tomorrow when I make my next pot :)

I will say I think that Gold Coast is my favorite coffee right now! And I admit I like the taste of coffee better with a gold filter than a paper one.

TC! :) Close to the same thing here.....

For our daily brew - We grind 8 O'Clock Dark Roast - I make EXTREME coffee - like big mugs of espresso, really - putting in2-3 times the amount most folks use....Because of this & the amount of coffee we drink,(5-6 pounds a week  ) I had to switch to cheaper beans for daily drinking....
Now, for a special occasion, or on some weekends - I drink fresh roasted Sumatran or Kenyan Peaberry. Both dark-roasted & winey....Both fresh from the roaster 2 miles from my door....
Now THAT is my idea of the perfect cuppa!

Yes, I've been known to munch a bean or two as well! :p

Since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, I use a coffee press to make my morning cup of Java. I like my coffee strong. I remember that we had a foreign exchange student from Brazil who made coffee for our speech class. She wrapped equal parts of ground coffee and sugar in a cheesecloth and placed it in boiling water. She served the coffee with lots of cream.

The best coffee that I've ever had is the "cowboy coffee" that they used to make at the Yankee Peddler festival. The boiled coffee in porcelain lined steel coffee pots over an open flame. Maybe it was just being outside in the crisp, fresh autumn air that made it taste so good.

I love my coffee. :)

Well, well, I've never thought of eating a coffee bean! :earseek: Wait, I did eat a chocolate covered bean back in Grade 6.

I'm with the freshly ground crowd, usually drink a light or a medium Starbucks brand.

Currently, I'm using supermarket coffee beans, I am trying to get away from the heavy oil taste of Starbucks. Will I go back to Starbucks, yes, probably in a few weeks.

I'll have to try munching on a coffee bean. Never did it before. I can't grind in the morning as I'm always up before the rest of the family, so I'll grind up a few days worth and put it in a can. I usually drink the 8 O'Clock Columbian. I like the Dark Roast too.:)

My kids love to crunch of coffee beans..

DH sometimes grinds in the mornings.. but when you're up as early as him (430!) sometimes its easier to go pre ground...

DH usually used the French Press... (one of the best ways to make coffee.. I highly recommend it).. or uses an old fashioned perculator...
