? for book readers

I am curious about something I discovered on eBay. I am trying to purchase a series of novels. Some of the descriptions of the books say that they are not "book club" versions. What does that mean? What is the difference?

I'm guessing that refers to certain books... like Oprah book club books... that have discussion questions in the back?? That's just my best guess.

when I belonged to one of those 10 for a penny, buy 3 at regular price clubs, the books were of a different quality. paper stock was heavier--more yellow than white, the pages when the book was closed weren't cut nice and even. Maybe thats what they are refering to???
