Southwest has moved up their schedule release date to September 28. Click here for the link.

I'm afraid as to what we are going to find that day :scared1:

Thanks for this! I've been waiting not so patiently...I've tried to research the best time to book airfare (how far out and which day of the week) but I'm guessing a good DING fare is going to be our best bet!

Good luck to you!

I went this past year at the same time and found the best fares were available the week between Christmas and New years in the early am like 7am.

That being said...don't expect the best flights to still be available. Those will sell out regardless of the price, based on my experience

We booked a cruise on the Dream on points for April 17th but now I'm worried about the price for airfare at that time. I think if it would be 350 or more pp I'd consider switching the date of the cruise to a less busy time. Is there any way of getting a round trip for about 200? I'm a stay at home mom so I can watch airfare every day.....

I have found that AirTran has great deals... We are not in an area of a strong SWA presence.... We can typically find one way fares on Allegiant or Airtran from $19 to $89. I have found that some of the best flights and prices are available only on certain days of the week, so we typically make our vacations coming and going on certain days of the week

Couldn't wait for SWA. We are going the last week in March and wanted to finalize our trip dates. Have used Air Tran, but even they hadn't released their dates. We fly out of Milwaukee instead of O'Hare - way cheaper. We actually got a good deal with Frontier, but wedo leave Monday and come home on a Monday, so the boys will miss one day of school. It was $1400 for 6 tickets, direct flights and good times. We even got to select our seats. That was the problem with Air Tran- the seats were cheap, but if you wanted assigned seats you had to had to pay $12 each way per ticket. We chanced it and things got messed up on the flight back. We had to sit 2, 2, and 2. Our kids are still young and I'm not a good flier, so I prefer to all be together. I'll be curious to see if SWA would have been slightly cheaper. I don't get it because sometimes flights look cheaper, but then they add in the fees and they end up being more money. I'm going to have to look just to torture myself - it's always about getting the best deal for me. Might have paid a little more, but we got THV for 4 nights and BCV for the last 3, and that is priceless!!!:cool1:

I am patiently awaiting the fares.

I am travelling from 4/12 to 4/24.

I expect 4/12 to be cheap....4/24 is Easter Sunday so I am hoping it is slightly less than the thurs- sat before.

I priced it on AA and it was a little over 1100 for 3. I am figuring it about the same for SW....though worth more for SW for me I live 5 min away.

But for those of us looking to go for Easter, they're extending it until April 25th only, and we want to fly back a few days later than that. So should we buy one-way tickets now, then return tickets next time they extend? Or should we just wait? Unfortunately, there are very few airline options available to us unless we're willing to drive 250 miles up to civilization.

I would just book the one way......it would stink if it went up while you were waiting.

One advantage with SW I have found whether you book one way or R/T if the fare goes down you can rebook whichever portion went down in your existing reservation (no fee) and you get a SW credit to use for up to 1 year. The credit does NOT have to be used by the person on the original reservation. I have been watching the fares once a week and have recouped about 160.00 for reservations that my family has had.
