I am taking my mom for a 2 night stay at POFQ next month. Due to bad knees and heel problem I would like to rent her a "scooter" a.k.a an ECV. My 1st thought was to rent one as we enter the parks and just use a wheel chair at the resort, but I think even the walk from the bus to the entrance of the park would be painful for her. If I contact a company off site and have it waiting us when we arrive, will she be able to take it on the DW bus to the resorts? Anyone ever have a problem fitting one on a bus?Have any of you rented an ECV off site? My final question is, do you just leave it in your resort room when you check out or up at the check out desk? Any help or info would be
appreciated.

All of our busses are fully ADA accessible, and can acommodate most mobility devices. There are some mobility devices that may be too long for the standard lift on the RTS bus, however, we also have the low floor LFS bus that has a ramp, thus making it possible. The standard "scooter" should be no problem at all.

Hi. We had to do this just last April when my DH injured himself a few days before our trip. We rented an ECV from Walker Mobility
http://www.walkermobility.com/ and it was great. Was already at the resort waiting for us when we arrived and we left it at bell services when we checked out. I believe it worked out a little cheaper than the daily rate in the parks and then you have it all the time.

We didn't have any problems with the buses. They all had some kind of ramp or lift to use. They would let my DH board first before the rest of the passengers. I got a lot of help from the people over on the DISabilities board - you might want to post over there. I know there are other outside companies people use as well.

Good luck.

Big thumbs up for Walker's. We did the same thing for my elderly MIL and FIL. They brought their ECV's right up into the room with them each night (actually we took one in our room to save space) and charged them up for the next day.

Walker's dropped them off and picked them up at the resort. It was wonderful.

Buses and drivers were very helpful with loading and un-loading. My FIL got pretty good at maneuvering them and did it himself most of the time. They're very easy to use.

The ECV's were a blessing for us.
