For anyone who didn't know "how pregnant you were?"

Hi everyone,

After falling asleep at 8 pm EVERY night last week and feeling super queasy all weekend my suspicions were confirmed with a positive home pregnancy test tonight.

I'm 'cautiously excited.' For several reasons, this was not planned at this time, but I am glad it happened this way since I don't know how long I would have dragged my feet on having a 2nd child (or if I would have even had one at all).

When we conceived our son we had been actively trying for a couple of months and I had been charting. I knew with confidence when he was conceived. With this pregnancy I find myself playing detective. I'm a teacher and I think I remember my lmp being the first week of school or maybe the 2nd) which would have been between 9/6 and 9/14. Other than that I am clueless. I figure I am far enough along to be feeling nauseous...in fact that was the only reason I tested.

So my question is this: If you were not sure of you lmp, how did they calculate your due date and how accurate was it?

Thanks! Looks like I won't get to ride the rides on our December trip!

Congratulations! That's wonderful news.

I'm 22 wks pregnant now, and when I first found out I was very surprised. We had been trying, but I had fertility issues with my first child, so I thought we might run into some difficulties.

So I really didn't know my dates, things had been a bit thrown off. I found out through ultrasound an estimated due date, and it seems about right. The date has stayed consistent. The doctor looks for the size of the fetus and other measurements that track the age of the fetus. They say it is usually accurate within the week.

I can only tell you what my Dr. told me since my DD was a preemie, but he said that they would calculate my due date from the week before the start of my last period. Hope that help and congrats with the new baby!

I knew for a fact when DS#2 was conceived. DS#1 and DS#3 were both calculated from the ultrasound. As soon as I knew I was pg, I called my Dr. and scheduled an appointment. They asked date of last period, which I didn't know with DS#3. Turns out with DS#1, I evidently still had one after conception. Really needed the ultrasound.

An ultrasound can tell you when your due date is. The earlier you do it the more accurate it will be.

Congrats! My #3 was a surprise too - now we couldn't imagine life without her. My cycle was always screwy so using my LMP didn't work. I also had a couple of early ultrasounds to determine EDD and they seemed right on.

Hope you're feeling OK!

I had this happen with DD and my OB did an ultrasound to figure out how pregnant I was. It gave me a due date that turned out to be very accurate!

As long as you know within 2 weeks of when it started, you are right there with the majority of newly pregnant mommies. And full term babies take however long they need to grow, some more some less so anything from 37-42 weeks can be normal.

Congratulations!!!!

I don't think you have to skip the rides just because you're a couple months pregnant....you might want to ask your doc. Chicks do all kinds of active things when they're pregnant. I think the ride warnings are just when you're further along, they dont' want to send you into labor or be jostling baby around too much.

I didn't know when DS was conceived so I had an early Ultrasound (around 5/6 weeks) he measured right on schedule from then on so I assume it was accurate.

Please talk with your dr about this one. there are some
valid reasons NOT to ride many of the restricted rides even during the first trimester and later on. Most dr. are going to say if they say not to ride it, don't and I wolud never go aginst that advice. Imagine the guilt if you did and something happened.

TAlk to you doctor.

I got pregnant again after a miscarriage (D&C surgery) - I never got a period after my miscarriage, so we had no idea how far along I was. They did an ultrasound and I was 7 weeks along. The doctor told me the early ultrasounds are most accurate in calculating the due date.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I didn't find out until I was almost done with my first trimester that I was pregnant. It was kinda nice having what seemed like a six month pregnancy! I was never regular after I got off birth control and had even gone over nine months without a period so I wasn't concerned that I might be pregnant (too many false alarms). I also had been off birth control for over four years. We did fertility treatments and nothing took and had basically given up. I had absolutely no clue that I was pregnant. I also didn't get morning sickness but I couldn't stand the smell of bacon or tunafish.

Unfortunately I also drank alcohol my first trimester, not excessively but I did have some wine and beer now and then, was around some heavy smokers, drank lots of caffiene (I was drinking three to four cokes a day) and also pulled some crazy stunts on a wave runner that I probably wouldn't have done had I known that I was pregnant. Certainly nothing I am proud of and wouldn't have done if I had known I was pregnant. That being said, I am (thankfully) the proud mommy of a very happy, very healthy seven year old boy. My doctor was about a week late in predicting my due date but she just said my son was late.

I would imagine you could do things like the Carousel of Progress, TTA, Pirates, Jungle Boat and Haunted Mansion, Kiliminjaro Safaris and Great Movie Ride and of course, all of the shows. There's still plenty to do!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

With all 3 of mine, I had u/s when I was between 6 to 8 weeks along.

They then gave me the EDD per the size of the fetus.

With my 3rd we were not expecting to get pregnant-ie not trying, done at 2 but AF must of been screwy that month because I think the day we conceived was about the day or two before AF was due to come.

With that one, by my LMP date, I was given 2/28/06 as my due date. I had an u/s 2-3 weeks later & my due date was changed to 3/22.

Towards the end with my weekly u/s they told me "the baby is big" (I didn't know what I was having). But she came early March & I think the u/s date was wrong because she came a few days after my original EDD & she was also a low 6 lb baby.

My other 2 kids were also in the 6 lb range & my first came about 4 days after my EDD & my 2nd also came 4 to 5 days after.

Oh & congrats. We went to WDW a few weeks after I found out I was preggo & I didn't go on any rides & I didn't miss them either since I was there for my kids.

If I remember right from nursing school...it is something like count back 3 mths from your last period and add 9 days...that should give you a pretty close guestimate of when you are due.....If I had a pregnancy wheel at home I would figure it out for you...
So maybe mid June?????
or
I know there are internet sites that you can plug in your last period and they will calculate out for you....

either way

CONGRATS

I have PCOS so was told by my dr that I would have a hard time ever getting pregnant. My cycle was all over the place. So wasn't I surprised when 5 months after my wedding I started experiencing pure exhaustion. I didn't do a pregnancy test until I nodded off driving (yes, I realize I'm lucky that me and DD are alive!!!) Long story short, we had to do an ultrasound to figure out a due date. Not that the due date mattered since DD decided to show up 6 weeks early!!!

Pixie dust to you and your family and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

As stated by many, ultrasounds are very accurate when done early. Your doctor will also have a pretty good idea by the size of your uterus. Nausea usually begins around 6 weeks on average.

Congrats!!! That's fantastic:cheer2:
Ultrasound was the only way to tell for us as my cycles were nuts and I had no idea i was pregnant until my mother convinced me to take a test. I had a couple of ultrasounds over a period of a few weeks to compile some measurements and rate of growth and that's when they figured out the due date. Turns out I was 8 weeks along when I first tested so by the time all the U/S's were done I was in my 2nd trimester. She was born 7 days before her due date. So they did a pretty good job pinpointing:thumbsup2
