For any DVC fence sitters

To pass the time while I wait for my resale to close, I have pages and pages of notes of scenarios for my first call to MS. We have lots of up-front points to use up and plan to visit 3 times in the next 14 months. We're going to have to be flexible because 1 trip is (hopefully) in early June, another in late October and another next spring. We're prepared for split stays and spending more points for availability. I priced out the scenario that I think is most likely and it would have cost us $8330 for these 3 trips without DVC! We actually debated this purchase for 5 years and crunched numbers several times over the years. I read countless analyses about the cost of DVC too, but now that we're close being owners, the reality kinda hits you over the head! My closing can't happen fast enough!

THANK YOU! Today is day 12 of our "in 12-15 days you'll get your closing paperwork" so I'm counting the seconds till I get home and check that mail! (I've been as impatient as my 2 darling DD's the last few weeks!)

I have had luck booking stays as short as three months out. As long as your flexible and willing to do split stays you should be fine. Pack light and live out of your suit case.

Knowing in future years you can plan a trip with no splits and enjoy.

I just booked (today) 3 nights for BLT for May 17th on, and I could have gotten a 1 bedroom at BWV, so there is still availability out there. There were plenty of Saratoga nights, so you will get something for June, I am sure.

I needed to use up some holding points and I was happy to get BLT as I haven't stayed there yet.

Sorry, I don't have the chart, but by the by, John Magi is a DVC owner and is of the opinion that it's a losing deal to use points for cruises. He says you won't get as much bang for the buck than you would using points at a DVC resort. Instead, he suggests sellIng your points and using the cash from the sale to fund the cruise. This has come up in several podcasts.
