2008 has started out rough for us, just after the holidays my Mom needed immediate open heart surgery, after a 2 week ordeal she is recovering well, much better than expected. However upon returning home, I find out from my friend, room mate and all around partner that one of our cat's, my buddy Newman, was suffering from renal failure. After another 2 week nightmare, we had to make the ultimate decision and have him put to sleep. Crushed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel, I know non-pet owners can't relate, but this was my buddy. So for anyone going through a tough time, my heart goes out to you. Hey, if nothing else, you can escape to the DIS and get away from it all, at least for a while.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I don't have any pets but, I know when my mom put her dog down she was very sad.

Losing a pet is never easy. They truly are part of the family. I know when we had to put our dog to sleep it wasn't easy but it did ease his suffering.

So sorry that you have had such a hard time:grouphug:

You are not alone. Pets are family to some of us and your sadness is quite understandable.

You know, when it rains it pours...right? It always seems to be the case for so many of us. I'm glad that you are able to come to these boards as an escape. :grouphug:

To Chickenskin...my heart truely goes out to you!! I am a pet owner, 2 cats and one dog (he is a small jack russell and sleeps with me everynight). Also just for background info...we also have another dog (big) that stays outside, a pot belly pig, 2 lambs, and 6 miniature horses. My jack r. only goes out of the house with someone and he does have a pin off of our back porch that he goes to to take care of bathroom business but a couple of weeks ago he went outside w/DH to feed the horses and for some reason went to the road and was hit by a car...he is still with us..Thank Goodness but he was bruised pretty badly and had lots of cuts and scrapes. He was so sore he didn't walk for almost 24 hours. He was so pitiful. We took him to the vet to get checked out and he didn't have any internal injuries but our vet wanted to keep him for observation for the afternoon to make sure he didn't have any swelling on his brain. I cried like a pure baby!! Anyway, I'm so sorry about your cat. All my hugs to you!
