How do you get thru the drive home? We drove for years every summer from PA. We would make it in about 16 1/2 hours. We drove thru the night. Now with all the great deals I would love to go for a few days during Christmas. I would drive again but the ride home is always so long. Does anyone have any good advice on how to get home with out going nutty? The ride down is always fun but on the way back we all are grouchy and miserable. DD is 17 but she is still in the learning stage of driving. I am sure she would want to drive alittle on 95 to get the experience and I am willing as long as the road isn't too congested. I will be nervous but she needs to learn. DH thinks this is a great plan. God Love him. Well any assistance or ideas I would welcome. Thanks and have a great day.

You are right! The ride home is always tougher than the ride down! We always drove until Virginia, then stayed overnight somewhere, to break up the trip. If you are not in a hurry to get home, you might stop at an attraction, like Virginia Beach, or Williamsburg. It's also always good to have something planned to do when you get home to look forward to, like a Yankee game or a broadway play. Something like that. Good luck!;)

We drive to WDW from PA and I couldn't do it without my audio books. I find that they don't distract me from paying attention to my driving and the traffic, but they keep me interested and awake.

Go for it!
We drove 24 hours both ways, with a 20 month old and a 4.5 yr old(and my DM too!). If we can do it, anyone can. ;)

Really though, we left WDW at 10:20am. Then we drove for the day. We stopped at McD's for dinner then started again. Before long it was time for the kids to sleep, and the adults(not the driver) tried dozing off here and there. By the time everyone was awake for the day again, we only had about 3 more hours to go. It really wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, but I was never so happy to see the "Welcome to MA" sign. :D

Oh and before the trip we bought a 9 in tv/vcr that we can plug into the lighter of the car. The kids loved that! If they were older I would have started watching our trip videos on the ride, but they were too interested in their videos, and I wasnt going to argue.

We usually drive versus flying, but we're only 9.5 hours away. I'm not sure I could do 16 hours. But, you're right, the drive down is so much fun. We play Disney music and sing along. Coming back, we try to think back about the trip...and talk about our favorite parts. It makes it less painful. It's hard. Sometimes we start planning our next trip. That certainly helps.

Thanks guy's I may try those books on tape. I get car sick and I have teens now so of course we need to argue over the music. A book we may be able to agree on. I wish my children had 2 more days off after Jan 1. It would make it so much easier. We got a great deal on the WL and I would really love to do this. Wish me luck.

I know, driving back home is always the pits! Luckily some of yous only drive 10 and 16 hrs. I drive (just me, my husband doesn't drive one the freeway) about 20 hrs!! We have to stop for 2 nights!! Driving there is always fun cause I have something to look forward to, but driving home... :( it means leaving Disney!!
