We drove last night and encountered snow.

Ah, wait a second...

A clarification is needed from this 2,000+ mile round trip driver: we drove to Hollywood Studios and experienced the "snow" at the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights! :wizard:

Uh-oh - i better watch the news! :) Did it say when it'll start?

We will be driving our grand caravan:goodvibes

And, I have to say - I love the idea of not having to worry about what we pack either! We are removing one of the back seats and I am packing a bin of food/snacks and lots and lots of bottled drinks...this way, we can save $$$$ while at the parks! Also, my dd and youngest ds are not big eaters - but, my ds is considered a disney adult (:confused3) so rather than waste cash on uneaten food - I plan to have light breakfast in the am at our hotel - actually come to think of it - our whole family does not ever eat a heavy breakfast...we are cereal eaters and maybe a piece of fruit - so, I am packing a weeks worth of mini-cereals and some parmalot milk...anyway - there are advantages to driving - and for us - that is a huge one!!:thumbsup2

Yes, you better watch! Long Island is having a blizzard warning Saturday 12/18 into Sunday!! Here in NJ the same days but 6-12 inches where I am!! Be careful.

Yup, I'm watching the weather... Hopefully we won't hit much or will miss most of it!

Have a safe trip!! and a wonderful Christmas at WDW!! Lucky you!! I love the Christmas decorations there!

hehe, thanks! :) just printed up the check in thingy online! :)

I was just reading what i wrote before, lol..

Hopefully we won't miss much or will miss most of it? LOL

Not sure where you're staying, but all of the gift shops in the resorts carry half gallons or gallons of milk, so you don't have to use Parmalot if you don't want to! But, if you won't have a fridge, then Parmalot is great to put into an ice bucket or cooler to have cold milk in the morning!

We always go to a grocery store, too. I applied for a Winn-Dixie discount card and carry it in my wallet and run there on the way to check-in!

Indeed! We'ved been monitoring the upcoming storm. We were supposed to drive back on Saturday (with a stayover in southern VA before finishing our drive on Sunday). However, that won't work. I-95 needs to be plowed so we are staying an extra day in WDW. A no brainer. Lots of flexibility when you don't fly.

be safe. It's a pretty big storm all of a sudden as of yesterday it was just supposed to be snowshowers. Now 6-12 or more inches in most of NJ (the northwest is supposed to not be as bad, odd, usually they get more!) Washington DC was even more!

hi bc, they are saying it is going to last into sunday morning in the lehigh valley and most of the day on the jersy shore and ny city.becareful!!:thumbsup2

I have to find out when it's going to hit - we aren't leaving LI till about 1pm 2morrow afternoon... I just hope we get thru DC without snow

they are saying its going to start 5am or so in philly and work its way up. they are saying starting around 10am or so in the lehigh valley. its coming up from the south so when you see it in jersey, it has already been going for a while. they are now saying dc is to get atleast 16-18 inches.

I've got family in NJ that would be traveling the same route tomorrow that you plan to travel (only as far as the Baltimore area), leaving in the morning. In view of the weather, they have delayed their trip until Sunday.

The Baltimore news says that from DC to Philly people need to stay off the roads tomorrow unless they absolutely need to be out. Possible 24" is predicted now.

Honestly, you may want to reconsider your plans. I know you are already one day later than you wanted to be, but waiting one more day might be prudent.

Thanks for your concern!

Indeed, we continue to monitor the weather.

We are thankful that we drove to WDW once again. Driving gives you the flexibility to depart on your own schedule. Again, we simply booked another day at WDW. Difficult to do when one has airline reservations...especially when confronting this massive snow storm. We'll allow the road crews to do their job on I-95, and then depart tomorrow morning instead on today. Hmm. Now let's see: what are we going to do to occupy our time at WDW? :rolleyes1

Still, whether one flies or drives, we wish all the very best for a safe journey.

u2 BC .. We are leaving by Noon today - hopefully i95 will be plowed - otherwise, we'll take our time and stop if need be.

Wishing everyone a joyful holiday ---

Georgette
