back on the lap -top.
we are going down 78/81/66/17/95/4 on the way down tomorrow night and will be using 4/95/26/77/81/78 on the way home allllllllllll the way out to September 20th.
looks like gas prices have come down a bit.(never stopped me before but it is nice) I happen to see on the wesh weather app that invest91 has spun off the coast of Africa on Saturday but is expected to stay out to sea (never stopped me before):lmao: we are hurricane Wilma survivors!! :beach:

home from work tomorrow and off to bed so I wont be on at all tomorrow. I will check in when we check in! :thumbsup2

Just got home. :cool1: No I didn't say I was going. :thumbsup2

Restaurant recommendation: Tacos & Tequila at the 160A exit of SC in Florence. We were staying over, but WOWSA! Good food. Great homemade margaritas. One was enough. (And anyone who knows me, knows I would normally say two is enough).

I will post our going to WDW times later (as soon as I fish them out). Went on Sat. of Labor Day Weekend. Fought two days of rain on the way home. :scared1:

Have a great trip.

We have driven 3 times from Ct to Orlando with 2 littles (One was barely 6 months the first time). Once for a shuttle launch and twice to visit family, but this November we are excited to finally make the trip for Disney :goodvibes

OK, so we at the last minute (2 weeks out) decided to get off our island and go to FL. We sort of thought we'd go around this time, but things with my Mom are touch and go, and our work demands make taking time off iffy.

So, we booked the first ferry to get over to Lewes, DE on Sat. Aug 30 (of Labor Day weekend). We decided to lay over in Florence, SC, which was a good plan as I slept only about 18 hours the 5 days prior to leaving.

Our times:
8:36 a.m. off the ferry (luck of the draw, we were close to last off)
9:29 a.m. MD border
10:13 a.m. VA border
Ate lunch at Virginia Originals on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (enjoyable)
12:55 p.m. Left CBBT
2:45 p.m. NC border
5:34 p.m. SC border
6:09 p.m. Arrived in Florence, SC. To the minute on schedule.

Next day, didn't keep track, but we left SC around 6 a.m., met friends for lunch around noon in Lake Mary...and checked into hotel in mid afternoon sometime.

Great week! Too hot after our mild summer here on the coast, though.

Once you got off the CBBT, which way did you go to get to NC, SC, etc.?

Hi everyone! We are taking our first ever family vacation and driving to Disney in November. :yay: We are coming from just south of Pittsburgh, PA and I was hoping to get some advice on the best route to take and any other tips you could share.

It will be my husband and I, our three children (10, 8, 6) and our nephew (12). We want to drive straight through because he only gets so much time off work. We did this when we drove to Kansas to visit family and it went pretty smoothly except maybe the last couple of hours coming home when everyone started getting cranky lol.

Google Maps says it will take anywhere from 14-16 hours but realistically with stops how long should we plan for it to take?

TIA for your help!

It's about 2 miles longer than the "fastest" route, but what we do is go Rt. 13 to Rt. 64 towards Suffolk, and stay on it until it merges with Rt. 664, which is right when we dump of the interstates to Rt. 58 West, which takes us to I-95 in Emporia, VA.

VA Beach area is a crazy set of interstates with lanes merging, occasional left exits, and everything going circular, so I can't tell which direction I'm heading. We've found that tacking on 2 miles to the trip saves us about 20 minutes of back-tracking due to not being able to execute on the "fastest" path like a local. Also, there's no signs when heading through for anything like "To I-95" when heading south. When coming back, there's CBBT signage to follow, making the return easier. :cool2:

I understand you about those roads in the Virginia Beach area. :scared1:

My parents, who live near OC, MD, have contemplated us driving them down and I checked out the route and thought, "As much as I want to see the CBBT, there is no way I want to get caught in that mess near Virginia Beach again." Thanks for the alternative route. I'm sure it would be shorter than driving in circles.

Now that I have had some sleep.lol the ride down was fine. Leaving at 12:30am there isn't much traffic.lol we had one slow down and that was in Jacksonville on i95. In the construction zone, heading north, a pick up truck rear ended,Tammy said look like at regular speed, one of those roadside assist trucks. We were in rubber neck traffic for about ten minutes. I didn't look over. Start troopers galore!!!! You name the state and we seen them. Most of the way down is 70mhp and in most cases we were 72-78.
There is construction. Nothing that slowed us down. Pass the mason Dixon and if they are working on two lanes, they simply just build two new lanes next to it for you to drive on. We north easterners put up with lane closures, they just have lane shifts.
I'll see if I can post of picture of the day as long as the app cooperates. Venturing to Dtd this morning for breakfast at earl of sand., some shopping ( I hear someone needs a new purse (eye roll) and it's not me) lol then to publix back for a nap then off to the mk resort loop for some walking around and koan for dinner.
Post soon, have a good day!

Very nice. It's Beach Club villas right?
Yes. We are in a one bedroom villa. Very short walk to Epcot. I videoed illuminations , about a min. Of it last night. I'll text it to you. It is like they set the fire works off on the roof of our hotel. It shakes the room. Lol

Good morning everyone. Last night leaving kona cafe at the poly I drove past the Hess station outside of the mk.gas was $3.23. When I left pa it was $3.40. The cheapest I found was in warrenton va and it was $3.09.
We have a 8am ADR at crystal palace and a 6pm at le chief in France. ( I love auto correct lol)
Looks like the storm invest91 is now a tropical storm and should become a hurricane. So far all the models have it missing the us.
Have a good day and keep the shinny side up!!!
