I'm ashamed of myself! I ask the gas price question and didn't look myself what it is around here. :lmao:
I fill up three times a week, I stop at the same station ( the owner of the company I work for is friends with the owner of the station) and I use a company credit card and I know, its bad, but I don't even look. :sad2: the boss does the payin so he does the sayin!
$3.71 in Trexlertown and Macungie yesterday. ;)

glad to hear your all better! :thumbsup2 my sister is a breast cancer survivor and I have a brother that had a bought with skin cancer. my dad died of brain cancer,my mom died of ovarian cancer and my brother died of lymphoma. 5 out of 7 in my family. :sad2:
the older I get, the harder it gets to keep your head screwed on right.
my brothers son, who was 8 when his dad died graduates from medial school this semester. after his dad died, he told his mom he was going to be a doctor when he grows up and find a cure for this mess. well, hes now a doctor. I wouldnt put it past him to fulfill his other promise.

after all that, my wife a few years lost her vision in her left eye due to a tumor on her optic nerve. it wasn't cancerous but she under went radiation.

my brother who died of lymphoma is the brother who was stationed in the af in homestead in the early 70s and is why and how we started this Disney addiction.

I told this story on this thread a few years ago. a lady who visited this thread a lot pm'ed me. one of the nicest person I have ever met who was battling cancer her self. I got to meet her and her family shortly after in the magic kingdom. we had a great meet up. talked for the longest time.
the following year we were down again at the same time and just never were in the same spot at the same time and I missed her.i still kick myself today.... she passed not long after that.i had no idea she was back in the fight.
everytime we walk by the hall of presidents, on the side where there is outside seating, dw and I always mention our meet with sarah. what a sweet lady. we will never forget her!!!
she was a great friend while dw was going through her ordeal. pmed me just about every day..... just to see how things where going. she never met me other then from the boards.

I had Lymphoma.....stage 4 large cell in 1991. Had a bone marrow transplant and given not great odds. Well, I guess God has greater things in mind for me!!!!!!

Love the boards, have met some great people this way and have introduced alot of Disney friends to the boards.

Have a great night.

Cheryl

Dave, thanks for your long post. I so relate. I don't want things. I want memories. I don't need more stuff, I want less. :)

:thumbsup2 wow! your an inspiration to a lot of people Cheryl! :thumbsup2
my poor brother suffered. he had chemo, nuke and stem cell. the next step was marrow, I was his match, he never made it that far. my dad was gone in three months after they found his tumor. my mom, I think if she would of had it today, they could have saved her. in 70s, the gave you a years worth of chemo, opened you up to see what was going on and start all over.
my mom suffered also. I don't remember much of those times, just the happy times. always great to hear survivor stories. :thumbsup2

we have to try to get a northeast meet together!!!! :hyper:
there are a lot of us from this little corner of the world.

Hi everyone! Can I join the 2000+ club? This will be our third trip driving from north jersey. We are heading down in August. I don't want to wish the summer away (especially after the long winter we just had) but we can't wait for August.

sure jump in at anytime!!!

quiet here today.

i agree with BC. I tried going 78/81/66/17/95 to myrtle beach one summer for a dance championship. we departed at 4:30am. made it to i95 just above Richmond and crawled. it took me 16 hours to get to myrtle beach and it takes me 16 hours to get to wdw going 78/81/77/26/95.

Ohhhh, OK!! Thanks! So what about where 26 meets 95? Is 95 crazy from there to Disney or is it just the Washington area? I was thinking of stopping Saturday night right around where 26 meets 95 (in August) , then head out early Sunday morning? What do you think?

We've never experienced any major traffic on I-95 south once we pass Richmond, VA. Of course, I-4 can present problems at rush hour around Jacksonville and Orlando. But by then, you are oh so close.

All the best. :thumbsup2

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU DRIVING MOMS!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!!! It really was a beautiful day here today. It was about 80 degrees!!!! I don't remember the last time it was that warm on Mother's Day. My DH cooked a clamboil for my parents, and my sister's family. It was delicious! Definitely felt like summer today.

Our local gas station's price for regular a few days ago dropped from $3.59 to $3.54, and then it dropped to $3.51 yesterday.

All the best. :thumbsup2

leaving in a few weeks for our 3rd road trip! :cool1: this time though my DH will not be joining us and I will have my sister-in-law instead! So I will be doing most of the driving!! We are in Massachusetts so we are looking at a 20-22 hr drive! Im debating leaving at 8 pm or 2 am. I would really like to be driving at night in the more populated areas of the country . Anyone with any advice I would totally appreciate it!!

I don't know about advice, but we drive from MA too. We usually leave at 3-4am and stop overnight in NC.
Although 2 weeks ago we left at 4pm and ended up driving through the night w out stopping. DH and I share the driving switching about every 3 hours. I could only drive til 11:00 PM. We won't be doing that again. Just not good for our family. My DH drove overnight bc I just can't do that.

We drive from Central Connecticut and have left anywhere between 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Three weeks ago we left right at 7:00pm and the only traffic we hit was on 95S North of Baltimore as the highway was actually closed for construction. We had to get off and detour but since it was 12:00am there were very few cars on the road and we only lost 25 minutes or so. We arrived just a little after 3:00pm the next day so all in all we made decent time. I prefer leaving a bit earlier but I try to time NYC to miss traffic. We try and hit Fredericksburg by 12:00am if possible which means we are out of the car by 1:00pm the following day. So I would leave at 8:00pm (a little earlier if possible). If you wait until 2am you risk hitting the 95S traffic south of DC mid morning which could add a lot of time to your route.

im not as far north as you but I see someone has helped you out already.
just some advice driving during the night. be aware of your surroundings when you stop. I have pulled into and pulled out of many gas stations because just didn't like the area. I hit the next one down the interstate and felt better. now, I seem to stop at the same gas stations every time. new car and it don't get the same gas mileage and smaller tank so I had to redo all my stops. :lmao:

$3.59 here but that's at the station down the street... May be quite different 3 miles away.
