"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (IV)

It's two posters who have been very active on these driving threads for four years or more and are setting up a meet and greet. Many posters on this thread do that, that's why we're the friendliest and most helpful thread on all DISboards.

Meeting y'all is on my bucket list. Alas, I don't think that will happen for a while. I really want to get a copy of the Fess Parker biography and have BC sign it for me. Unfortunately, I think we miss each other by about a week. :sad2:

Great advice and so much good information, it can take a week to read it all!

It was June, the year Briana graduated from high school. I think it was 2011. That was the year we had adjoining rooms at CR - TPV LOL. We had the AP room, bottom floor overlooking the monorail. That was cool!
thaaaaats it!!! that was funny, we were next to each other and had to idea.:lmao:
The nicest rest stops are in the Carolinas, they are just rest areas and not stores/truck stops, etc..

We don't like to go off the road if necessary, so truck stops are the second choice.

This year we plan to buy lottery tickets from each state as a souvenir, fun thing to do. We also make sure we get some Stuckey's nuts which are DELICIOUS!!!

Florida Welcome Center is great - you can go in and get some brochures and flyers in the Central Florida section and everyone can read them all the way to Disney. It helps to get new excitement going!

South of the Border looks dirty, creepy and a big rip-off. We would never set foot in there.

we stopped for gas there one year. tammy went to go to the restroom, walked in and came back out. :confused3 I was told she was not going in there and we are hitting the next rest stop. :lmao:

When is your next trip? I'm on my phone so I can't see if you have a ticker : )

I have been missing him by weeks, days , parks for years now. :lmao:

we are missing each other by one day in December.

I have that book!!! :thumbsup2

sorry if I go off topic every so often, I never met any of these people before the dis. a lot of people come and go around here but there is a good number of us who have been on here along time. they become friends. this has become more of family then just a thread.
what kind of people you find on here? a few years ago my wife had a tumor on her optic nerve. lost her vision in one eye. when i posted where i was going and what was going on, a got a pm from a lady, who i never met, telling me what she has gone through and if i ever need to talk, pm here. well, i have a loooong history and we did a lot of pming. my wife is fine, still blind in one eye but it could have been a lot worse. i finally got to meet this dear of a lady in the mk one day. her husband knocked over two people to get to me.:rotfl: we talked for a good hour. the following year we were at wdw the same time again but only for a few days and we just couldn't hook up. sadly, she passed a few months later. i had no idea. everytime i walk by the place we sat and talked in the mk, we all ways remember sarah!!

hey feet!!!! are you still leaving Thursday morning sometime?

what we do is take i81 to i66 to i17 and that will pick up i95 just north of Richmond. not sure what time your leaving but try not to hit Richmond at rush hour.(like any major city) 17 is similar to 15. you hit lights and go thru towns but it generally not to bad.

we are still leaving at 1am if you change your mind. :rotfl:

We are planning on 11 pm or midnight now! Woohoo!!

No! We're missing other good folks on this special thread by a week? Say it an't so!

It would be my pleasure to autograph that book (I did a WDW Radio interview from Frontierland a few years ago about Fess Parker and Disney's "Davy Crockett") whenever our paths cross.

So, when exactly is your next sojourn to WDW. Send a PM if you deem it appropriate.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the kind words regarding "Junglecruiser," dear Sarah. We think about her constantly during every WDW stay. We are glad that you had the opportunity to meet such a brave and courageous individual.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Arrive at Wyndham Bonnet Creek on October 27th, and leave early morning November 3rd.

We just noticed this post. We depart when you arrive in October and we depart when DVCzerfs arrives in December! If this keeps up, we will never cross paths with you good folks!

Go figure. :confused3

All the best. :thumbsup2

I know it doesn't belong in this thread, but I'd love to hear your opinions on BC. We have considered it, and we really want to try it, but we're scared to give up staying on property :rotfl:

We've stayed at WBC once and we thought it was a great alternative to on property. You are so close ( next door to CBR). We thought it was really nice.

You have to wait until we get back. This is our first trip to WBC. However, we've stayed at other Wyndham resorts (in particular Wyndham Fairfield Glade in Tennessee, about halfway between Knoxville and Nashville). That is a nice resort. However, we stayed in a four bedroom Presidential, while we're only staying at a two bedroom deluxe at WBC.

10 days until we leave our driveway. I can't wait. All 4 of us are so looking forward to the drive down. Since the start of school it's been so hectic for all of us. Who would've thought that a 9 and almost 14 year old boy would be so excited for an 18 hour car ride....just to get to spend time together as a family?! I guess it's just that "Disney Magic"!!!!!!!!!!

This trip is so close I can smell it!! :cheer2:

LOL - those will be the LOOOOOONGEST 10 days.

My kids know that driving is the only way they will get to Disney, so they are fine with it and know that complaining is the easiest way to lose spending money once we are there :thumbsup2 I tell my DD that each "how much longer" whine will cost a dollar. She is allowed to ask what state and how much longer in that state, just so she gets her bearings.

We'll keep you company until you leave. Any last minute questions??

We would do a 2 BR deluxe too. We priced out WBC vs.the Fort. We could stay at WBC for $745 for 6 nights vs. $2,600 at the Fort for 7 nights. That's almost $2,000 difference but we still can't pull the trigger. We're still agonizing over it.

Thanks, Sharadoc!! nope - no questions. This is actually our second drive down. The first was pulling our camper which I don't think we'll do again - got hit by a drunk driver on 695 and it was the WORST way to start our vacation. This drive will be so much easier!! I'm hoping that since we're leaving at 2 am the boys will sleep for a few hours and after that...they'll have their missed homework to keep them busy! :lmao:

So close!!!
12 days for us!!!
