Alas, we will not be attending MNSSHP later this month. And we passed on it last year. After participating in it several times (and once dressed up: Davy and Polly Crockett!), we decided that the crowds and the long lines for candy were a bit too much. And the event is somewhat overpriced.

Now then...we spend money at WDW, from club level accomodations to frequent dining at V&A, but MNSSHP is not on our list in 2013. However, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is another matter: we're there again in December. Pure joy, a superb parade, other Christmas-related events and activities at HS and Epcot + hotel decorations. And the "snow" on Main Street! :cool1:

All the best. :thumbsup2

you will have to let me know what night your doing the Christmas party. maybe easier to track someone down this time if you don't find her in October.

Our goal later this month is to cross paths with her!

I'll text you in advance and from the parks in order to locate her and pay our respects to the distinguished CM.

If we don't see her, we will try again in December. But I'm hoping for an October meet 'n greet. :wave2:

All the best. :thumbsup2

Once you hit Virginia the speed limit is basically 70 all the way so I do between 75-78. Rest breaks are quick do your business and get going. We leave northeast pa between midnight and 2am depending on what time I get to bed. The longest it took was on December 22 and that was because of traffic with the holiday

you head down to 95 in philly? or 78west to 81 south?

I'm in western NJ close to 78. Some people around me talk about 78 out to 81 but google says it's an extra hour to do that no matter how you slice it. I'm not sure what these folks are thinking- maybe they want to avoid the DC mess that badly....

we leave in 20 days.. I hate 95s! I live in Philadelphia but this time we are taking 13s to 17s to 95s to 4w! I have nothing but time so we will see myrtle beach and savanna on the way down! can't wait!!

Sorry we never got a chance to meet up. I found our days just flying by while we were there. I hope you had as awesome a trip as we did!! The weather was great down there. We drove straight thru on the way down and back and made it in 15 hours each way. I couldn't believe how low gas prices were!!! DH and I were loving it. I think our total gas cost was around $500 and the Ram averaged 18.3mpg. We were quite pleased. The boys were GOLDEN both ways....I couldn't have asked for better kids! The WL was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation!! The only bad thing.......I WANNA GO BACK RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! ;)

Same here! We had a wonderful drive down...took 15 hours and we figured our total round trip gas cost to be $360. But I filled up with my Giant rewards before leaving and got a full tank in my Sienna for less than $20!! Woohoo!

The ride home was awful...my kids were tired and miserable. It was the drive that never ended. But we had to to to VA to drop my mom off for a wedding she was going to. We stayed over night and had a 3.5 hour drive home. Even that seemed to take forever, lol.

I can't seem to get back into the swing of things back home...just want to be back at The Mouse House so bad...

Looks like our plans have changed and won't be making our trip down driving all night after all. The one person I thought would be working late has the day off so we get to leave here early morning Friday. We're going to drive to Valdosta, GA where I have a room booked and get up early the next morning and drive the rest of the way.

I'm happy we will hit the World fully rested with a good nights sleep, but the downside is increased traffic I suppose. But I feel much better about the drive now as I was afraid I couldn't sleep while others were driving anyway. Actually, I'm not dreading it at all now.

One more day of work tomorrow, then packing the car up tomorrow night and hitting the road early morning Friday! woohooo!!! so excited!

. Sorry I missed your post. That's ok. Time moves along when your there. Not to mention it is a little strange telling your spouse I'm meeting up with some guy I talk to on the Internet.lol

Sharon and I met for the first time a few years ago and now when we are down at the same time try to meet up for a diner one night.

I'm also a Disdad and I must have met 20-25 guys down there that I have only talk to on the dis. It's strange at first till you get a few meets then its easy. Except BC. I'm not sure if there really is a BC. Lol

I'm glad you guys had a great drive and vacation!!!

thanks for the feedback. is that route pretty much easy peasy all the time? I'm thinking of trying on our next trip.

I've never had any major issues. Could just be luck though. Knock on wood

We've driven that route from MA 4+ times and haven't come across any issues... This was always during the summer - I've read on here that it's not recommended during the winter because of the mountains and possible snow.

i don't have any problems going that way. (knock on wood)

im leaving in 77 days and im going 78/81/66/17/95/4.
i have some experience with sunny on the bottom of the mountain and snowing to beat the band on the top of the mountain. :crazy2:
im to old to spend the night in my car. :lmao:

i wont be hitting Richmond till 1am so i should be in good shape when i hit 95 off of 17.

That's the way I always used to go until someone recommended the 77/26 route

does the 77/26 way have piles of hotels along the way like 95- so you can just stop and get a room when you are tired?

are we there yet? :cool1:

Sorry got here Sunday night and checked in at the Holiday Inn Express. Stopped at POFQ Scat Cat Club to check out Elliot's replacement. Wasn't too impressed.
Monday stopped at DTD to pick up our AP & checked into POP. Went to MK for a short while and decided to give the new Scat Club entertainment another chance. Definitely underwhelmed! A pretty good singer but little personality or person-ability-not at all what one has come to expect from Disney cast members.
Tuesday & Wednesday were spent at Epcot. Got 16 of the food booths done. 12 left to go. Was quite impressed over the portion sizes this year. It seemed like over the past 3 years portion sizes were getting smaller each year. This year most seem much larger.
Friday night we will be doing the 3D dessert party sweet seats so we plan on only having 3-4 of those remaining booths left for Friday lunch.
No Halloween party for us this year either. Have done it a bunch of years in a row. We figure that taking a break will make it seem like new when we do it again.

Our last stay at POFQ, lobby was being redone and Elliot was furloughed.... That was May.... We wandered mover to POR to check out their entertainer... Yeehaw Bob. wasn't impressed, just a complete idiot with no musical talent...

Hoping Disney gets the hint and brings back ELLIOT to the Scat Cat Club..!

As we approach our departure later this month for our 30th round trip drive to WDW (since 2002), we anticipate the many road markers that indicate our progress. To be sure, the descending I-95 mile markers hasten the anticipation, but one of our most important locations is Lake Marion in SC. Not only is it the state's midway point when driving on I-95, but it represents the approximate midway point of our entire drive. And Lake Marion's wonderful sign that features a huge fish and the words "Not Quite Actual Size" is cool.

Now then...local gas prices down to an average of $3.33, but we've seen $3.29.

All the best. :thumbsup2
