"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (IV)

Despite our 1,000+ mile one-way drive, which is primarily accomplished on I-95, we enjoy the descending mile markers on the way down. It provides a road-flavored countdown to our journey.

Of course, for some reason, the drive back home always seems to be a bit longer when periodically checking out those mile markers. :confused3

Our 30th 2,000+ mile round-trip drive since 2002 is planned for later next month. :cheer2:

All the best. :thumbsup2

B wanted me to post this for the friends on the 2000 plus mile thread.

What happened??? No picture here.

Well, the car is packed and gassed up. We leave in about an hour. Hoping to drive through the night and roll into POR around noon tomorrow. The kids still don't know - they are under the assumption we are going to Georgia for work for Daddy :)

hope you had a safe trip! :thumbsup2

bc, are you going to a Halloween party by any chance on your next trip?

have a safe trip home. hope you have a coat and long pants. :rotfl: (I came home to 50 degrees looking like I was going to the beach :lmao:)

Safe travels ahead, and more great visits to look forward to!

I did the same thing, 50* in ABE and 38* on the turnpike.
Glad he weather warmed during he day his week! The nights are freezing, but avoided turning on the heat.

82 days :cool1:

We're leaving Friday, December 20th around 4:30 from shoreline CT (about 30 minutes from New Haven). The last few trips we took the inland route and liked it much better.

I'm assuming we should go that way again because otherwise we'll run into NYC traffic and maybe also some further south?

This time we'll have 2 drivers because DH is coming :)

Thanks!!

On our way. Cheapest gas price Murphy USA in Clarksville TN $3.10 a gallon - $3.05 with Walmart card

That sounds good. Where can you buy gas with a Walmart card? Does Walmart have their own stations? I'd love to save a few pennies per gallon where I can.

There are a number of Walmart gas stations up and down the highways, usually associated with Murphy Oil. Sorry, can't tell you where they are on I-95. It is usually the cheapest gas around, plus you'll get 5 cents off a gallon when you pay with either your Walmart credit card or a Walmart gift card. Sometimes, when I know I'm gassing up at a Walmart, I'll run in and get a $50 gift card first. I won't buy $50 in gas, but I know I'll spend the remaining balance soon.

Sorry we never got a chance to meet up. I found our days just flying by while we were there. I hope you had as awesome a trip as we did!! The weather was great down there. We drove straight thru on the way down and back and made it in 15 hours each way. I couldn't believe how low gas prices were!!! DH and I were loving it. I think our total gas cost was around $500 and the Ram averaged 18.3mpg. We were quite pleased. The boys were GOLDEN both ways....I couldn't have asked for better kids! The WL was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation!! The only bad thing.......I WANNA GO BACK RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! ;)

I always wonder, is that total driving time or does that include rest stops? In other words is that from your door to Disney total time?

Even if I exclude our overnight rest stop we have never gotten from PA to Disney that fast. Wondering what all of you are doing different.

We make it to Disney from pa in about 15 hours. We stop for bathroom breaks, gas and one meal (usually fast food).

What speeds are you driving? Is this at or slightly above or more than slightly? Just curious cause we have never made it down there that fast even taking out our overnight stop over in the rest stop.

we are the about the same as goofyfig. a lot has to do with how often you stop and for how long. when you leave and traffic, heck if I leave on a Friday afternoon it can take me an hour to get from Nazareth to rt100 on rt22. :rotfl:
I did it in 15 1/2 but that is moving. I do it in 16 hours with out any push. even when we stop at rest stops or for gas, its in and out. pending on how you drive, I tend to stay in the flow of traffic in the left lane. in june I was following a pick up truck and it was 70mph, we were doing about 75-78. the speed limit went down to 65, I let him go, he got pulled over a few miles up i95 in Ga.
I remember when it was 55 all the way down and back. that was a 20/21 hour trip.

I can only wish it takes us 15 hrs. We drive from MA and need to stop overnight. It takes a total 21-22 hrs. Ugh!! :(

We will probably be driving in April again.

But we do leave in 10 days ( flying) for F&W - can't wait!!!!

Once you hit Virginia the speed limit is basically 70 all the way so I do between 75-78. Rest breaks are quick do your business and get going. We leave northeast pa between midnight and 2am depending on what time I get to bed. The longest it took was on December 22 and that was because of traffic with the holiday

Alas, we will not be attending MNSSHP later this month. And we passed on it last year. After participating in it several times (and once dressed up: Davy and Polly Crockett!), we decided that the crowds and the long lines for candy were a bit too much. And the event is somewhat overpriced.

Now then...we spend money at WDW, from club level accomodations to frequent dining at V&A, but MNSSHP is not on our list in 2013. However, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is another matter: we're there again in December. Pure joy, a superb parade, other Christmas-related events and activities at HS and Epcot + hotel decorations. And the "snow" on Main Street! :cool1:

All the best. :thumbsup2
