You have a number of choices with familiar hotel/motel chains all along the I-95 corridor. Being in DE, you have at least an hour advantage on us, and you should use it effectively. An early, early morning start (pre-4:00 a.m.) will get you further than Jacksonsville. Palm Coast or St. Augustine would be better goals, and Daytona and Deltona are even better if you want a drive on the second day that lasts "a couple of hours." (In fact, if you make it to Deltona, you're already on I-4 and you'll be in WDW in less than a hour).

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thanks your right the past two times we have stayed in Brunswick, GA and Daytona. We stayed at the Ramada in Daytona on the beach and I thought it was nasty! Any suggestions of decent places to stay in Florida right off I-95/I-4?

Just curious if anyone here drives to Disney World more than once per year? I've got a crazy idea to get AP's for 2012, thinking we could go in October or November 2012 then again in May or September 2013, and maybe, just maybe, a third trip somewhere in there. We are right around 1,000 miles one way, are so many trips just crazy talk??

It is essential that if you travel to WDW at least twice a year, the annual pass is the only way to go. Just compare and contrast the the price difference between two 5 or 6-day stays, for example, and the cost of an annual pass. Furthermore, the annual pass provides additional savings on your room reservations, discounts on dining and shopping.

We go four times a year so it's necessary.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Indeed, Daytona is not the best place to stay for a number of reasons, but it does mark the important travel juncture of I-95 and I-4.

We usually stay at Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express and haven't been disappointed.

All the best. :thumbsup2

You drive 4 times a year? That's impressive!!

Yes, we will get the AP because we will probably spend half the time, if not the full time, offsite. Would need to get that free parking!

:thumbsup2 we do 2 trips per year. each 9 nights. if your a dvc member, dvc members get $100.00 off . the ap goes from the first day you use it to the same date next year. we were down dec 1st 2010, going june and september in 2011 so were getting 3 trips on one pass. to renew your pass, it gets cheaper yet.

2 times in 2009, 3 times in 2010 and planned 2 times in 2011 here!

Hi guys,

I'm going to a conference in Washington, DC. I don't want to go down 95 during morning rush hour. I figure to leave my house around 7:00, plan to get there around 10 am. I was hoping to go out towards Harrisburg/York on 30 but I'm not sure what to do from there. Any suggestions?

Would 95 at Baltimore be okay by 9 am? I really don't have to be there until 11 am or so, I can leave later if I'll avoid traffic and stay on 95. It just seems kind of hopeless!

The only reason I'm doing it is because of our frequent drives to WDW. Driving to DC is before we even make our first driver switch - just down the road!

Hi. I quoted myself because this was the last post on the page before, and I think it got skipped by the new posts on this page. I could really use some advice folks!

Since we joined DVC back in 2008 we started the multiple drives per year routine. We knew we would be going more often (4-5 times per year) and that flying would be too expensive. Our first drive was Feb. '09 with our second in April '09. Twice in 2010 April and June and getting ready to leave again in a month for Spring Break. This year we decided to spend a week at HHI so it will only be about 800 miles one way instead of the usual 1200. So as far as your first question goes, yes people drive more than once a year. As for your second question get an annual pass if you are planning on coming down twice and definitely if you are going to make the trip three times. For calendar year 2011 we planned a trip in April and November. We decided to do HHI for the summer trip because we will be cruising on the Dream in July. Therefore, we considered skipping AP's this year. When we figured it out it was worth the purchse based on the April and November trips alone. The break even point is usually 10 days. I'm not sure if that has changed for first time buyers, because we get the DVC renewal rate, but I bet it's close.
