Does anyone have any Florida lodging books, the ones you pick up at the welcome center on I-95? I'm looking for website addresses for any of those books. I threw mine away. Googling is getting me nowhere. Or if you happen to have one that you would be willing to mail to me, please PM me and I'll give you my address as well as cover postage. Thanks!

Leaving for the world on Thursday. Will be driving from North Bay Ontario. Expect it will take a full 24 hours of driving but will be a ton of fun.

Leaving around 3:30pm once the kids get home from school drop the dogs off at my parents house in Niagara then hope to make it past Pittsburgh before stopping for the night.

I am a little worried about holiday traffic at the border and thru out the trip. I have never driven down during the American Thanksgiving so also concerned about hotel availablity along the interstate and places to eat being open.

How is black friday? Is everthing including restaurants typically open?

We're leaving about 12-13 hrs. after you from NJ so most likely we'll be there at the same time!! Anyway, I can't help you about traffic at the border but Black Friday EVERYTHING is open! No problem there. Have a great trip! As far as avail. I would make a reservation along the way you never know. Just make it at a place that has a 4 or 6 pm cancel by time. We have a reservation on Fri night outside Savannah, GA. Had a problem and didn't get a room one time - we usually used to just drive through and decided to stop on the way home- nothing all through NC or SC so make a reservation = cancel if you must but at least have one.! REstaurants on Thanksgiving- most along an interstate will be open

I would think that you should have minimal problems at the border if you leave home at that time. If any later, though and you might run into issues. I know the Outlet mall in Niagara Falls typically opens at midnight on Black Friday and people camp out in the parking lot with have tailgate parties waiting for it to open. Wal-mart will also be open at Midnight, but most of the other stores will not open until 4-6 am or so. There are MANY Canadians who come over the border to shop our Black Friday sales. Usually the Rainbow Bridge and Peace Bridge have shorter lines than the Lewiston Bridge on any given day, but especially on holidays. If you are dropping the dog off in Niagara then you can probably check the wait times at border crosssings while there and then plan accordingly. There is also an Outlet Mall in Grove City, PA (also opens at midnight) that you will drive by on the way to Pittsburgh, and that should be OK as long as the off-ramp is not backed up. Otherwise, try and keep to the left lane while passing Grove City. Have a great time!

International Bridge traffic at the US/Canadian border Niagara Falls is reported to be peak in the morning and early afternoon from Thanksgiving day throughout the weekend for traffic heading from Canada to the US. Wait times are typicall shorter at the Rainbow Bridge than in Lewsiton, as I have presviously stated. There is a number to call for bridge traffic information. It is: 1-800-715-6722 or radio station 1620 AM.

I can't believe I just found this thread! In 11 days we'll be starting our drive down. About 2,100 miles round trip. Can't wait! Usually we try to drive as far as possible the first day, so we only have 2-3 hours on the second day. But we have some extra time this year so I think we'll maybe drive less that first day and see if we like that better.

Already found some great looking I-95 links on this thread, going to read them now!

Perhaps we will! It will be myself, DW, 4 kids, plus my parents in a huge rental van. Our goal is to make it to Waltersboro, SC that night. This is trip #11 for us since 1991.

I must admit, I probably shouldn't be posting here. From my driveway to the WDW entrance sign at exit #67, it is 999.5 miles each way.
