Does your husband prefer to go the I95 route or the I81 route through the mountains.

Truckers know the roads better

I95. Well, its actually soemthing crazy like 16 to 95 to 495 to 90 to 84 to 91, then back to 95.... Needless to say, I wont drive until we hit NYC!! :rotfl:

I booked the Comfort Suites in Kinsgland for Saturday. It was $80 but thats for 6 of us. I believe it was less if you have 4 people. If also includes breakfast so thats a plus for me.

I am, now trying to find something in South Carolina to book as a back up but have to look some more. If the room doesn't hold 6 than I want a place with exterior doors so we all dont walk thru the lobby:lmao:

We are staying at the Comfort Suites in Kingsland too - what Saturday - we will be there sometime on the 21st!

we have stayed at each one but manning. we were at dillon in october, it was ok. we stay at hampton inns and we felt save at it. when we hit the hotel for over night, we pack a cooler and when we get in our room we shower, get our stuff ready for the next morning,3am, and eat what we packed in the cooler. we stop around 6:30 so its about 8-8:30 to we fall a sleep. if we fall a sleep.:lmao: pending on the time of year, we dont even see the place in the day light.:lmao:

I researched the hotels in Dillon, Florence, Manning and Santee. They seem to be basic enough hotels. We are looking for less than $100 so no Hampton Inns for us...really looking for <$75 if at all possible. May skip Florence since AAA lists them all "near Railroad". Think we'll try for Manning or Santee.

Last week I booked the Country Inn & Suites in Brunswick, GA for $65.00 advance pay price for 4 people. Includes hot breakfast! :thumbsup2

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Kingsland 2X. Nice and clean 2.5 trip to Disney from there.

Is this close to I95? I may need a stop over in GA on our way home and this is a great price!

Yes, it is right off 95. :thumbsup2 We are staying on Thursday night, so that might make a difference for the price. Weekends will probably be higher.

Anybody have an information on traffic/construction/possible delays via I70 to I270 from Hagerstown to DC? Looking to possibly avoid the loop around Baltimore. I can go down I81 to 70 instead of I83 to 95. Just thinking of possible alternatives. :cool2:

It's not the route that matters, it's the time of rush-hour traffic that matters. So plan any sensible route but be cognizant of the heavy traffic times.

[Our most recent form of transportation was a few hours ago: the launch from the MK to the GF!]

All the best. :thumbsup2

We should get there after 10 am or 11 am to get to DC before the afternoon rush. I checked the Maryland state website regarding construction and they only indiciated one small area working on guardrails. Hopefully we will be OK! At least if it is bad we know some back roads in that area where we could get off the interstate if we had to. Thanks! :cool2:

Those of you that have toddlers in car seats: Do you take anything that they can prop their feet on? I'm worried about DS's feet dangling for such a long time, but not sure what to use. I thought about a cooler but we don't have anything tall enough. I am going to look at Wal-mart when I get my last minute items tomorrow.

2.5 days to go!!!:cool1:

I've never done the long trip but often will put stuff in front of DS when others are in the car and he can put his feet on them. You could use a cooler and then put something on top of that.

But, I've also seen pictures of kids sittng cross-legged in their carseats if there's room.

Have an awesome time!

We are at WDW right now. We came down for a last-minute, two-day birthday celebration. Due to the short stay we had to...

fly. :guilty:

I was not concerned about my daughter's legs dangling, should I be?

My son actually prefers to cross his legs in his car seat most of the time. But when he is tired with that, we usually have a duffle bag on top of something else that he can prop his feet on.

We're driving (obviously) - anyone know the fastest route there? I'm not too hip about driving through Atlanta, though, but will if it's the fastest - suggestions, please!!!!

Honestly, I don't see the big deal driving through Atlanta. It has never been a problem for us and we have done it several times. We have never hit a traffic jam but we don't drive through during rush hour. We have been through around 10am, 2pm, 9pm and no problems at all. Now Nashville is the place we run into traffic jams and lots of traffic no matter what time we go through. I think it is just bad luck there. lol
