FOP - Yay or Nay?

We just did Universal for the very first time to experience HP world and rode the main HP rides each twice. Then the next day we were able to do FOP twice(and these were rides #4 and #5 since we were able to first ride it in May.) Our consensus-- including the kids-- it that although HP is so much fun, FOP is the best ride any of us has ever experienced. It feels like a true virtual reality experience and when it's over, you are saddened to return to the real world.

Rides like FOP are the future.

It was meh for me. FP+ line took 45 minutes which was way too long. The pre-show was too long as well and we didn't connect with the Avatar IP. The ride itself was fun but nothing that blew me away. It was just looking at pretty scenery. I would try it again once the hype dies down. It is not worth the stand by line and stalking the website to get a FP+.

I loved it - just went on it 8 times on our recent trip.

BUT

I have zero connection to the Pandora franchise at all and think the same technology could have been used in a mythical storyline. Perhaps riding on the back of a dragon?

Clearly I’m still bitter Disney and team didn’t go forward with Beastly Kingdom.

Never saw & have no interest in Avatar, but loved FOP! It is now my favorite ride in all of WDW, though I have never been to Universal so can't compare to any of their rides. Would not wait 2 hours for ANY ride though.

The pre-show is absolutely horrible from beginning to end & is far too long, imo.

Regarding the preshow, I am not going to deny it's pretty bad.
But do know, that's not delaying your ride. It's part of the wait time. It's not like you could go on to the ride if you skipped it. The ride before you is finishing up while you are watching the videos. Without the preshow videos you'd just be waiting longer before the loading rooms. They are just there "to give you something to do" which is still better than standing out in those lines.

Definitely a yay, I like it more than FJ for sure. I normally do not get motion sickness on ANY ride except FJ for some reason, I don't know what it is. On top of that I have seen HP and I do enjoy it and I do believe the lands are perfect. However I have never seen Avatar and I do not care to but Pandora is simply amazing and it does blow me away every time I go.
