FOP for child?

Good Morning!

I made my fastpasses this morning and was pleasantly surprised/happy that I got all of the ones I set out to get. Of course, the minute after I made the final pass and re-checked the itinerary I had buyer's remorse. We will be hopping and on one of the days I have planned to hit Epcot in the morning and hopefully ride Soarin' and TT (without fp) before lunch at Askershus, then hop to AK later in the day. I scored a FP for FOP, but now I just don't know about my 5 year old on the ride. She is definitely tall enough and likes thrill rides, but I would love opinions, pros & cons of someone this young on the ride. What about motion sickness or jerky movements (i.e. no one in my party can do Star Tours)? I am just trying to decide whether to hop to AK and use FP there or hop somewhere else. We will be going to AK on a different day, taking advantage of EMH. If FOP is a no go, we will likely stay at Epcot and FP one of the aforementioned rides (we are FPing FEA on another day) or perhaps head to HS and FP there (we will have already visited HS on an earlier day with no fp).

Is Rding Soarin and/or TT reasonable or should we try to fp there on a second day?

FoP is very smooth and a great ride. Some get motion sickness from it but I think it's way better than Star Tours in terms of being friendly to those prone to motion sickness

She'll love it. My DS is disabled and functions as a young child. I was really really worried about it. He LOVED it and called it the Flying Dragon.

I have vertigo, fear of heights and hate Soarin'. I loved it and had zero issues. There are no jerky movements, it is smooth as it can be, didn't even feel like I had to hold on.

My father and I both get motion sickness, had No issues at all. She will love it

My only concern would be with the glasses. I had a lot of problems with mine staying on my head. I'm not sure how well they work for the kiddos. Perhaps others on here will have some feedback on that subject.

My work-around for the glasses issue was this (I have long hair, so this approach worked for me): I put the glasses on and then pulled my hair into a low ponytail so my hair held the glasses on.

FOP was spectacular. I hope you get to try it!

Well, unless a whole horde of people come on here and let me know it is not worth it for kids, I am sticking with our game plan of riding FOP with the kids. She has long, thick hair, so I can definitely try that trick with her. Thank you for all of your feedback!!

I am curious and following the thread. I'll be in the same situation next April with our almost 5 year old, but by the sounds of it she should be ok. Because they are on their own individual seats that you are locked/secured into (I'm guessing) I would be worried that my daughter would freak out being alone on her banshee. Not like other rides where i am right next to her and could hold her hand if she was a little scared.

My 5 year old loves it! She says it's her new favorite! She's ridden it 3 times total: once at our passholder preview and twice at the blog meetup.

I have this exact concern, but it seems like most people really enjoy the ride, both young and not-so-young. I will definitely update after our trip, so be on the lookout for my review (we go in August). My daughter is tall, yet petite for her age, but, she is rather precocious and wants to do what her big brother does, so I imagine she will be all in.

I haven't gone on it yet, but I did try the test vehicle. The leg restraint dug into my thigh and calf. I'm 4'10". I am hoping to go on it once. But my FP isn't until July.

My ride chicken 8 year old loved it, as well as my skinny 6 year old. You can hold their hand - the seats aren't that far apart.

We rode last week. My son (10 YO) and I are prone to motion sickness and had no problems, at all. DH loved it as well. DD is 7 and isn't a fan of simulator rides (dislikes Star Tours immensely) and she really didn't enjoy FoP. I don't know if it was too intense for her (it is very, very immersive) or if she experienced motion sickness; she said "I just didn't like it."

I have concerns for 3 out of 4 of us for FoP. Me- motion sick prone to just about anything, dh-vertigo issues, and dd- who is my biggest worry. She gets motion sick easily and hates anything that makes her stomach flip. However, her favorite ride is Star Tours so I'm on the fence if we should ride it. The only one completely immune is ds who will ride anything.

Star Tours bothers me. However, I have found that if I take glasses off I'm 100% okay. It is just jerky. However, my whole family loves it and I want to be with them. Just sharing in case it helps....

It depends on the child. My 4 year old loves the ride, but then again he'd ride Test Track if I let him

5, almost 6 year old LOVED the ride. Started to get a little skeptical through the long pre-show, but plowed through and really liked it. I have to shut my eyes on Star Tours, can't stand it. But this was fine for me. Can't wait to go again!
